Originally posted by Great King Rat You began with the father analogy. I ran with it and showed you the mistakes in your line of thinking. You're more than welcome to refute what I said in my post, but you're going have to say a bit more than "Your theory is flawed. That's not what God is about."
But I will maintain that God Our Father is as deserving (and more so) as our earthly fathers of love and obedience. You cannot project man's failings onto God. Comparing God to humans is comparing apples and oranges.
And yes, worship. As our Creator, He is deserving of at least that.

Have I entered the twilight zone??

Is there more than one personality present in the person we call Suzianne?

Atheists: If a god existed; what would be your criteria to ascertain the "goodness" of that deity?
To both: Even supposing a "good god" exists - why would you want to worship it?
"You believe in a god. How do you know he is good?"
these two aren't related. so i will answer the second: you do not. i follow god because i believe him to be good. if he wouldn't be good, like the OT god, i wouldn't follow him. belief in his existence is a separate matter.

2) Young children often blindly believe and obey their father. As they grow older, as their live experience grows, as they get smarter, they often begin to see that their father in fact wasn't always right. He made mistakes, he had character flaws. He may have been good, but he certainly wasn't as perfect as he once seemed.
3 ...[text shortened]... him or even worship him unconditionally? Maybe you would, but I'd hope I'd be better than that.
There is no threat of torture. However, threat of punishment for discipline is good.
Originally posted by Great King Rat You might want to start by explaining roughly what your beliefs are.
All of us believe either the truth or half truths or a lie about things, places and persons.
This reality also applies to eternity, heaven [and its alternative] and God.
Originally posted by FabianFnas Now you go with the dumbnuts rhetorics again. When are you going to learn that this is evilution rhetorics and nothing more.
I know that god is evil according to the bible. Read and learn.
And why would I want to worship your evil god?
Did you make a mistake by posting this? Or did you just show some of your Alzheimer symtoms, again?

Hold the phone!
So what you are saying is that all of us either believe...
...the truth...
...half truths...
...or lies...
about...
...things...
...and places...
...and persons...
..........
......
...
!!!!!!!
I hope you have the rest of the week off, GB, because I think you are going to be talking to a lot of media. This is big, man. You've uncovered something fundamental. A real gamechanger.

I bow in humble admiration, GB.
Praise you.
You know, even one of the ancient philosophers [Socrates or Plato, I think] observed that "The unexamined life isn't worth living". As young students and in college or university we learned to study and analyze all topics and information that was presented. Then in later years the press of family and business priorities as well as the tempo of our life and times caused us to accept too many things at face value. Fact is and remains that much of what is said on the media, the internet and in this online forum amounts to little more than distorted logic and emotional froth for the purpose of attention and ego strokes. Only a handful of people in your entire lifetime will look you in the eye while telling the unvarnished truth. Our parents and doctor and lawyer are hopefully four of them. Consider yourself fortunate if you have one or two honest and candid friends.
