We Will Be Like Him

" Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been manifested what we will be. We know that if He is manifested, we will be like Him because we will see Him even as He is." (1 John 3:2)

In eternity we will be like Christ.
We will have His attitudes and tastes and feeling.
What He loves we will love.
What He hates we will not love but hate.

"We will be like Him". This is the inevitable destiny of every saved person who receives the life of God mingled into his life.

"We will be like Him."

In more than one discussion there is the thought that some Christians are not like God.
But "We will be like Him" because this is the eternal purpose of God.

It does not yet appear what exact likeness of the children to the Father is not manifested. But it cannot fail to BE manifested in total eventually.

Before God created the universe, ("before" ) is used for lack of any better human language expression - God planned that He would have sons of God LIKE Him.

He cannot fail then to conform us to His own image in all of the communicable attributes.
We will not be like Him in those few non-communicable attributes.

But the saved are predestinated to be LIKE the Son and expressing the Divine Being in humanity.

Look.

"Even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world to be holy and without blemish before Him in love,

Predestinating us unto sonship through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will." (Eph. 1:4,5)

There is more guarantee that the redeemed believers in Christ will be like Him then there is that the physical universe exists and will last. In fact, the implication of this verse is strongly that FIRST God had a plan that sons of God would be LIKE Him. And then BASED upon this internal good pleasure of His will, He then laid the foundation of the universe, ie. He then created all things.

But what about the possibly millions of people whose names will not be found written in the book of life ? Will I have the same attitude towards the lost as God ?

Either I interpret wrongly or I interpret rightly concerning the eternal punishment.
But " We will be like Him. ". Being conformed to the image of Christ His attitude will be our attitude.

God cannot fail that in every inward motion, inclination, outlook, viewpoint, we will be like Him.

I expect that each and every saved one must ultimately be conformed to the image of Christ by the Lord Spirirt. From one degree of expression to the next degree of expression to the next, to the next, etc. etc. God intends that we will reflect Him so that we will be like Him.

" And the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.

But we all with unveiled face, beholding and reflecting as a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord Spirit." (2 Cor. 3:17,18)

The Bible concludes with a marriage.
God in Christ marries an corporate entity called "the Bride" .

The short meaning of this sign is that we who are saved will be like Him.

The last two chapters of the Bible, Revelation 21 and 22 are the grand climax of ALL of God's work of salvation. What is the consummation of all this work and operation of God ?

We will be like Him.
We will match Christ to be His counterpart, His romantic other, His Bride and Wife.

Why did God send His Son to die and rise again ? He did it so that He might obtain a collective entity that matches Him, that is like Him.

The realities of the new testament are appropriated by faith and the faithfulness of God.

God is the eternal life uncreated, death overcoming, everlasting, qualitatively limitless in glory, beauty, love and splendor. This eternal life does not only mean endless duration but limitless in quality.

God expressed within billions of people forever is therefore depicted as a ever flowing river. All He is must constantly move, flow, and be poured out through the "city" forever.

All the death will be in the lake of fire (Rev. 20:14) .

All the life will be in the "city" of life, with the "street" of life with the "river of water of [eternal] life." .

It is sad that wolfgang59 is projecting his own mundane and sinful monotony ONTO the eternal salvation in Jesus Christ. What a tragic deception he is under.

You see this is the work of God's enemy. That is to convince fallen man that he [Satan] is god, and that God and Jesus Christ are evil, death, and "the enemy."

How good it is to see things aright.

Christ came that we may have the divine life and have that life "more abundantly".
The endless wealth and variety of Him living in us is symbolized in a number of ways. One is in the tree of life bearing fruits each of the twelve months of the year.

" And on this side and on that side of the river was the tree of life, producing twelve fruits, yielding its fruit each month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations." (Rev. 22:2)

The diversity of expression of God dispensed into man is also symbolized as the twelve kinds of precious stones which make up the foundations and wall of the city.

"The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every precious stone:
the first foundation was jasper;
the second, sapphire;
the third, chalcedony;
the fourth, emerald;
the fifth, sardonyx;
the sixth, sardius;
the seventh, chrysolite;
the eighth, beryl;
the ninth, topaz,
the tenth, chrysoprase;
the eleventh, jacinth;
the twelfth, amethyst. " (Rev. 21:19,20)

These represent the transformed human beings made transparent through whom the limitless preciousness of Christ shines through. There is the ultimate unity and diversity.

According to 1 John 3, the WE are the righteous, the sons of God

Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Forgive me folks. But to stimulate some discussion at least, I'll have to dignify this not too good post from Rajk999.

Who are the WE, in 'We will be like Him'?

The audience of First John which i would definitely include all the genuine Christians throughout the ages.

" Behold what manner of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and we are. Because of this the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

Behold, now are we children of God; and it has not yet been manifested what we will be. We know that if He is manifested we will be like Him because we will see Him even as He is." (1 John 3:1,2)

The "we" includes the entire church universal.
It actually includes all the saved saints down through the ages since the creation of Adam.

But specifically the new covenant believers compose a great part of the "WE" there.

Do you even know? You continue to promote your false doctrine, fooling both yourself and gullible Christians.

There is no promotion of any false doctrine here as I think the majority of the Christians on this forum realize.

I do not have to give you the names specifically of all who are in the "WE".
It suffices to say that it is all of the saved sinners who are joined to the Lord now in spirit and are now "children of God."

And what a glory that we are now on our way to being transformed into the same image by the Lord Spirit.

It seems that every thread which Rajk999 writes leans to being the same discussion.

Now some posters might well say this is true of me also. And they have that right to say that. But this thread is about "We Will Be Like Him" .

And the main reason I started this is because of Satan's dripping accusations afoot that seek to argue in one way or another that some of us believers are not like Christ. Or it is strongly suggested that because some of us believe in certain aspects of God's perfect judgment then we are therefore NOT like God.

This thread is not about OSAS or the security of salvation primarily. It is about the undying assurance of not just being saved, but of being "LIKE HIM" in all of God's communicable attributes.

You brothers in Christ OR agnostic friends or atheists, we who open our lives to Jesus Christ will be like Him. Whether the thought seems natural to some of you or induced by some other agent, it doesn't matter. Whether this opinion that we shall not be like Christ is good reasoning or the injected accusation from evil spirits, it makes no difference.

The truth is that the Christian will be like Him.
In all that is communicable of His divine attributes and human virtues. we are becoming like Christ and will thoroughly be like Christ.
