They have heard of the creation account of Genesis and the worldwide flood of Noah's day and the wrath of God against sinners. However, they willingly make themselves ignorant fools by believing in evolution rather in the word of God.
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the trut ...[text shortened]... ruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
(Romans 1:18-23 NKJV)
Please explain why willingly ignorant with regards to god is the same as choosing to not believe.

The truth is clearly revealed by the God of the heavens and the earth by the the things He has made, so man is without excuse for not believing the truth. If you willing choose to be ignorant of the truth, then it is on you for you are also choosing to believe the lie. You can't blame anyone else.

will a (non-) belief. You either believe a given proposition, or you don't. It is an involuntary
state of mind.

So there is nothing we can do about it, since it is involuntary, right? There must be no such thing as a change of mind under your theory. We just can't help ourselves.

I don't agree.

I don't know about you, but I certainly wasn't born with built-in knowledge about the natural
world (yet another flaw in DNA). It's been hard earned through study, debate, (ir)rational
discourse and personal experience. And what little knowledge I've gathered makes it
impossible for me to believe in your creationist drivel.
I'll say it again, belief is not a matter of will.
Originally posted by C HessWell, if that is the case then my superior knowledge and belief must come from my 70 years of learning in life. Maybe, one day you will be where I am. Good luck on your journey through life to gain knowledge.

You can't choose to believe in god. You also can't choose to believe the moon is made of cheese.
Seeing that most religious people on earth have very different ideas about god's truth (not to mention the many unbelievers) it's safe to say it has not been revealed clearly at all.
He could of course stop being so damn stubborn and admit he made a mistake with regards to "truth revealing", but I suppose his pride gets in the way of that.
What a typically human trait that god has, doesn't he?

Atheists can speak for themselves, but for me ~ as a non-religionist ~ I'd say [with "morality" being a code that governs human interactions] that the basic bricks are [1] Do not harm others [2] Do not deceive [3] Do not coerce. Of course life and the complexities of human interactions make things a bit more tricky and involved, but those three things are a starting point.
