Everybody has been addressing your OP but perhaps people addressing your OP is not the kind of attention you are actually seeking.

ThinkOfOne summed it up pretty well:

chaney3: What are the criteria to be 'a Christian'?

ThinkOfOne: There are many differing opinions on this.

chaney3: And will everyone agree to this criteria?

ThinkOfOne: No

And you've had enough answers already that bear out what ThinkOfOne said.

I am seeking the opinion of Christians, not atheists.

How do I determine christians?

Does the person recognize sin? Saying that a person who is acting out a homosexual lifestyle is going to heaven? Not christian.

Divorcing spouse for non biblical reason then remarriage with x still alive? Not christian

Belief that God was once a man. Not christian

Belief that Jesus was an angel, not christian

It's very telling that most won't respond to this OP.

Either their 'belief' in Jesus is flawed, or they are afraid to admit that Jesus never said He was God.

Christian? What is it?

Which Christ Robbie?

The 'God Jesus', or the human Jesus?

Te character portrayed in the Bible. I don't think he ever claimed to be God.

What differentiation are you making between "adopts" and "applies"? If "applies" refers to action, for instance, what does "adopts" refer to?
adopt : choose to take up or follow (an idea, method, or course of action).

apply : To put into action

The distinction is that there is a difference between adopting an ideology and applying its tenets. One can for example give tacit support to an idea without ever putting it into practice.

How can you base your entire religion, and afterlife on....

"I don't think"

Was He God, or not?

Jesus did claim to be God, just not in the way you'd like him to make the claim.

Wrong.
Jesus never said that He was God.
Flimsy interpretation has done that.

Christian is a self proclaimed title, totally meaningless.
Except to a couple billion of those scammed by this so-called religion.

Wrong? So he said it in the way that you like?

Jesus is the Word!
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:1 KJV

Jesus is God with us!
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Matthew 1:23 KJV

Jesus is the image of the invisible God!
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Colossians 1:15‭-‬17 KJV

Jesus is the first and the last!
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
Revelation 22:13 KJV

Jesus is fully man and fully God.

I hope you have a good Christmas!

Correct. Jesus never claimed to be God.

Indeed those who say otherwise seem unable to make a case better than "flimsy".

Seems like people approach the words of Jesus with preconceived notions and try to make His words fit them rather than allow His words to speak for themselves. It's a travesty.

Merry Christmas.
Please quote the verse where Jesus clearly claimed to be God.
