If everyone could do those things we wouldn't have war on this planet.
How could you, even if you wanted to?

Kinda circular logic there.
The proposition was that christianity increases the amount of hate in the world. An example was cited.
The defence seems to be 'but these people aren't christians - we know that because they preach hate'.
*draws a box*
*fills it in*
"no-on ehas proven the existance of god, which makes the bible written by men."
Asthereal, are you saying that because noone has proven that God exists then he doesn't exist, ergo the Bible is written solely by men?

Its defining your terms to suit your arguement.

'for God so loved the world', take a peek at 1st corinthians 13 and so on. the Christain message is a message of love, agreed?
The christian message is not always one of love. It is often one of intolerence, smug superiority and sometimes downright hatred.
Others have posted the various OT passages about god instructing 'his people' to massacre others, in gory detail.
The people from 'godhatesfags' say they are christians - who are we to disagree (judge not etc).
Your logic is still circular.

so what you are saying here, in essense, is that everyone who claims to be a Christian is so, and if these people have a mesage of hate then the Christian mesage is a mesage of hate?
so, okay, i'm a phychopathic cereal killer. i haven't actually killed anyone*, but hey-that's beside the point. if i say i am one, so be it! i've broghut some friends along who are also cereal killers and we preach a message of love. we beleive that you should love your neighbour and if they do anything against you you should forget about it and still love them!
okay, cereal killers are loving people who treat others fairly, correct?
*for i kill cereal!
EDIT: found this, as posted by ivanhoe elsewhere,
"If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this Love each other as I have loved you."
-John 15:10-12
a message fo hate?
Originally posted by geniusA consistent typo, but never mind.

My point is that your logic is circular and self-fulfilling.
It was asserted that christians increase the amount of hatred in the world. An example was given.
You, conversely, claimed that christians only have a message of love.
You then accept the validity of your own claim, without any justification, to argue that the 'godhatesfags' people can't be christians, and insist that this therefore proves your claim. Completely circular.
Originally posted by Redmikeyou are claiming that the message if Christ, and therefore the message of Christians, is one of hate because you have seen people claiming to be Christains who hate-where, pray tell, is the logic in that?!?

Christains are meant to mirror Christ, but how can they mirror Christ if they are preaching hate? did Jesus preach hate?
Originally posted by geniusI'm claiming that christians preach hate. Not all christians, perhaps, but some christians.

I can claim this because I see people who say they are christians do this. And who are we to judge whether they are really christians or not.
This is perfectly logical - there is a hypothesis, backed up by observation.
You, on the other hand, start from the assumption that christians only preach a message of love, and use this assumption to prove....... that christians only preach a message of love.
Are christians not meant to preach the messge of the entire bible, or do you get to choose which bits you prefer?
