Report: Members of Tim Tebow’s camp ‘privately admit’ he’s done in NFL

Just a year and a half ago, Tim Tebow led the Denver Broncos to a stunning playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, who at the time had the league’s top-ranked defense.

Now a free-agent searching for an NFL job, Tebow’s camp believes he has played his last down in the league, because of media attention and having skills that don’t equate to being an NFL quarterback, according to an article in the June issue of ESPN The Magazine.

Tebow was traded to the New York Jets last offseason, but didn’t contribute much in his one season in New York. The team released him last month.

    More from ESPN.com:

Just 18 months removed from a stunning playoff win over the Steelers, Tebow has been written off by NFL teams in large part due to his unwillingness to change positions. “He’s not a quarterback,” said one NFC scout. “When you look at his run two years ago, when you watch the tape and break it down, he wasn’t really doing anything that impressive. He’s a tough guy, a great leader, a great person. But he isn’t a good enough quarterback to have all the distractions that come with him.”

What do you mean over? They never started, the only reason he started in Denver was because of unforseen circumstances and the Broncos were winning in spite of Tebow not because of him.

I still maintain that he was a better QB choice than Kyle Orton because the guys wanted to win for him and the results showed that even if the stats and film showed otherwise. Regardless, I don't think his NFL days are over just yet, just his QB days. Depending on the pay offer, I could see him relenting and trying out with a team at a different position but I do understand why teams would want to stay away from the media scrutiny.

I can see him catching a pass down field then turning and throwing a pass.

Would anyone be shocked if the Pats kept him around? I wouldn't be.

    So much for those "whisperings".

Oh, cool. That means Tom Brady will have to fight for his starting spot.

for once I agree with you entirely. Tebow will probably make the best of this opportunity and there's no telling what a real coach might do to correct the mechanics and other QB issues. I was hoping Dallas would make a play for him, but NE has a better GM.

Believe the Patriots took about seven weeks to make their decision. The contract is non-binding and zero risk. Forget the Pundits and Media Hype. Tebow earns a place on the 2013 Roster or he's out. Importantly, he knows it from the outset.

I can't believe NO other team was interested in this kind of deal for Tebow. Afraid of the media circus - what a cop out. I sincerely hope he makes the Pats roster this year even though (or perhaps mostly because) I am a Bills fan. I think the league is just a smidgen better for having him in it.

I think the league would be better off without him.

The contract is for 2-years but with no guarantees.
