we'll see how it goes...
We have HUGE gaps between the upper middle class and the poor, so this breeds petty crime on a huge scale. We have these twitchy guys who didn't eat for two nights always on the prowl for an easy grab 'n run.
I'm very sorry to hear of any tourists who are victims of this type of crap, but just a few precautions would prevent this. These people really needed to come here prepared with this type of information.

Most people will watch from home etc. as the games are broadcast on the public broadcaster, so that screening area was just a once-off. Probably just the excitement getting the better of some people with insufficient control elements. With all the foreign dignitaries that arrived in these past few days, I just think the police were spread a little thin.

We are busy with HUGE road infrastructure projects and they are only slated to finish in 2014 I believe, so again the reporters probably got it wrong, seeing construction on the roads.
Again, we've hosted countless tournaments, including other world cups, so traffic to stadiums isn't massive problems - probably just again so in reporter's minds who are used to mature public transport systems. Just make sure you are early and not sitting in a pub of your hotel an hour before the game and you should be fine.

We are a developing country and if tourists came here unprepared without accurate information, who's 'fault' is it?
Unfortunately, because of our infamy, there is a huge magnifying glass over us, especially regarding the crime and infrastructure issues, so you will probably see much more negative reporting about this outside our borders. More so than you would've seen regarding these issues, in say, Germany for example.

If Australia put Its mind to it, It could definitely take over soccer.
Oh yeah. Australia's got like the easiest group to get through.
How many teams in the world cup again?

I think New Zealand are the biggest rivals for the Aussies, other than that its just a bunch of Tongans anf Fijians,eh? (no disrespect meant, but...eh? )

South Africa scored!

How many vuvuzelas does it take to tilt the Earth's axis?

Edit - Amazing goal, too.

Yep, proudly so. Are you playing polo or golf this weekend?

Neither I have a rental in the country I have to check out tomorrow. It is about a 3 hr. drive. I don't care for golf, and never played polo in my life.

I wasn't putting it down by saying it was a poor mans game. I was also poor growing up. We played soccer, football, & baseball, but HOCKEY was OUR GAME!

That's cool. So what did you mean by that comment then?

Its a 1-1 tie.

I was rooting for South Africa; it seemed they had it in the second half. Pity, there were a few near-misses in the last few minutes.

If you learn to play the game well enough, it can make you some money right?

I thought that went without saying.

Shame SA didn't win, I thought they were really impressive in the 2nd half. Great goal, and a terrible way to concede - 1 mistake and the advantage is gone...

...also portuguese commentators are terrible.

FACT!

But, truth be told, I have yet to find some good commentators. Maybe the French commentators are the least bad.

I quite like the enlgish (at least in premier league games) and the dutch commentators. If these don't do it for you then go to a chinese channel, at least you won't know the nonsense they are babbling.
