OK, I know the 2008 Championship is not over yet but it is November already and I'd like to see the 2009 Championship opened up nice and early. A number of people I've spoken too didn't notice that the 2008 Championship was open so didn't enter (they are not active in the forums) and the longer the entry window is open the more opportunity there is for members to sign up.

I think the 2008 championships will probably still be going in 2009, judging from some of the delays we have already had.

I agree though it will soon slip onto page 2 of the tournaments. Perhaps this one should be a 'sticky' one, ie it stays at the top of the page... 🙂

This could be done by assigning arbitrarily a high number which will be reached sometime End of January like 6200

You mean that when they went to their My Home they never noticed the Tournaments available?

The problem with some people is they want spoon fed.

To be honest, no - they didn't. They never enter tournaments but would be keen to try the 2008 Championship. I don't see any problem with entry being opened now. Why not?

probably there was just too much fuss about the last two championships.

Well, its off, with lots of people joining already. Is there any way to tell how many people have joined?

Edit- I found it. 810 entrants already. Looks like a big tourny.

i don't think that will be necessary with russ sending everyone PM's about it.

well it is started!
Surprise to me is that my group consists of 16 players (I guess like most other groups), I expected 12 to 13 players

Extra 30 games with such time control is really serious. It`s good that my opponents are much weaker and I can afford to play fast.

yes, very large groups this year. Unfortunately I took on many new games in December but I hope to win my group in spite of this.

Groups of doom this year are 40 and 55, each with 3 players ~2000+.
