The Lost Bobby's first sponsored tourneys are accepting entries.

Prizes = "Seaching for Bobby Fischer" DVD for winner of each banded tourney.

We were going to offer beer, but were worried about transport laws.

We'll pay the shipping, of course.

It's just a matter of figuring out which region DVD to buy for you guys (and which subtitle language and all that good stuff....) It all depends on who wins!

Jeez, Canada's not that far away, unless you're in the Northwest Territories or Nunavut....

I am not stopping Lost Bobby's members from entering the tourneys. In fact, I am entering the 1600-1800.

However, if one of us wins a tourney (which I very much doubt) the prize will go to second place.

Nice.

As a UK resident I will look after the beer should I win 🙂

W000... one of the all-time great movies w/r/t chess. Last time I looked it was only available on VHS - nifty that it's on DVD now.

What ever happened to the kid who played Josh? I predicted big things for that young man.

Edit - from the imdb: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0690051/bio

He's gone Cannuck!

Why has the first banded sponsored tournament got such a ridiculously small max player limit the majority of players on the site are between 1200 and 1499 and only 30 can play?!?!? 🙁

The combination of 30 people, 7-TO 7-TB, and groups of 6 gave what we thought to be the best combination of:

a) no real time pressure (average TO and TB)
b) relatively quickly finished (only 2 rounds and small group in final)
c) not too many games per person ie 6x6 (We thought 10 was enough)

maybe next time we'll go bigger...
