@A-Unigue-Nickname,
Really that is your opinion, the jalapeño donkeys??? How many 1rst Place Championships did they win compared to Metallica's reign in two decades? I believe sir you are being very bias and untruthful.

Yes, it is my opinion. Best isn't always about winning chess games, best can mean enjoyment and fun. And the people in the donkeys where among the best on the site, including Fred.

We did a secret Santa, I sent and received gifts from the states. We didn't play chess much but sometimes.

We were talking about Chess Championships, not a Clan that is together just to have fun and send gifts to each other, although it was a nice thing for you all to do, but had nothing to do with being the best Chess Clan. Just having the most fun in your opinion.
Having been on more than my share of winning Challenge Championships I can tell you all the hard work is is fun when you win, just ask anyone in Metallica as they have won more times than anyone else in the past 2 Decades as I have already said. Go ahead and ask any of the long term players in Metallica and see the answer you get! πŸ˜‰

What do you win exactly? And working to have fun sounds like a job to me. Does it pay well? Where is even the recognition on your profile? How do I even know you've won any clan championships? 😜 I miss the clan leagues, they were fun.

But yes, best clan was without a doubt we the donkeys.

What we won was many 1rst place Championships, something you will never understand because I don't believe you will ever get there with your negative attitude to be perfectly honest with you old friend.

It takes a lot of work to win a Championship, something you just don't understand. It can't be explained to you as you have to experience it, and go through the hard work it takes to win Just one. I have been fortunate to have won into the double digits, few are able to get to that point of understanding what it feels like and all the hard work that goes into it.

No doubt, the JD's were a fun group, but not necessarily a top caliber chess group.
BTW, whatever happened to Rob? I ended up meeting a few of them at a gathering at Phlababit's house. SJ was a no show but her sidekick showed up.

I think it means something to those who do it, and not so much to those who don't.
Much like betting on a game of pool to some.

It is damned difficult to do what we did. It had never happened before and it may not happen again.
It wouldn't mean anything to those who couldn't be bothered to compete either.

A few get it though, so leave it at that.

I concur, some things are best left where it is.

Only we know what it is like to win and feeling you get after all the hard work all year long with its ups and downs. The little battle won and lost along the way, I remember the majority of them. Especially the 7 year winning streak which will not be duplicated in my opinion, unless Clans work together to try and if I am still around I will see it, and I know you will as well as other Clan Leaders who actually know what is going on and follow everything closely that is happening.

It has been a pleasure being a part of Your clan for the close to 13 years I was and many good memories. I am happy to still call you "Friend"!

So, to clarify, Rusty is wrong in your opinion when he stated this about ratings:

"I would like to point out it all evens itself out in the end, the player always gets back to his/her playing strength."
Sorry Ghost, I believe it was Trevor who complained and kicked this party off. If I'm wrong, I apologize but I don't think I am.

Also, Fred put it perfectly and explained it so all could understand.

The back and forth is silly. A few disagree, majority follow the rules and do what must be done so our opponents don't drag out the matches even further. Like I posted, I had challenges go over a year, and even two years.

I can't afford that. That is far worse than ending a game that is already decided.

Happy New Year to you.

Not our Trev. The fellow walks on water. (Disclaimer: We have not seen any evidence of this).

We've moved on sir, but the issue wasn't about abandoning games that had been deliberately/tactically dragging on for a year or more (which would irk the best of us) but rather ditching games prematurely simply because they were deemed as unimportant, due to the clan challenge being theoretically decided by other results. - Some opponents move a little slower not for unscrupulous reasons but because they are taking care with their moves, and not trying to race through their games.

Sometimes chess requires a little patience.

Edit: Happy new year to you too.

Me complain? Never 😁

Actually I stated in the other thread that I wasn't happy the way you resigned games which allowed us to win the challenge for the 2024 table. The challenge was in the balance and actually you had a very good chance of winning it, at the very least it was a draw.

(Edit: that's how possibly the conversation got started, it was well underway here before I posted)

Anyway, we had our open top bus tour to celebrate finishing 2024 as the 12th or 13th best clan booked for Hull. When you resigned the games we finished 10th which required an upgrade, so we held it in Bristol. Cost us a fortune changing the location. Where did you hold your winning party?

No we were pretty rubbish at chess, or didn't take it very seriously. Played the odd clan challenge though I remember and the clan leagues. Rob just disappeared, had him on Facebook as well and disappeared off that, maybe just had enough of the site. It was unfortunate how SJ decided to end it, Sunburnt was the last one I spoke to a few years ago.

We all celebrated at our homes with loved ones, and congratulated each other for being the best team in 2024. As for those two game? It could have gone either way, we did not take the chance.

New Year. Lets see what happens. Enjoy your party you deserve it my friend.

Best Regards,
Michael

Sunburnt was the sidekick I referred to and she was at the gathering. SJ was going to come but cancelled out at the last minute.

What ever happened to sunburnt? Do you still stay in contact. She was a good person as far as I am concerned.

There's no sour grapes, we've all said repeatedly that do what you have to do to win. If that's what you want then go for it. Congratulations on your 2024 win, I'm sure all the top 3/4/5 clans do the same. Myself and others in my clan think differently, sure it's annoying to have to wait for a seemingly meaningless game to end before starting a new challenge but wha ...[text shortened]... clans or who simply play at a higher level because they're concentrating more. That's the only way.
... it's annoying to have to wait for a seemingly meaningless game to end ...

That right there is the crux of the biscuit. Evidently you and some others here think some games are meaningless, and that's where the disrespect for the game and for one's opponent creeps in. If you treated every game and every opponent with the respect they deserve, you wouldn't walk away from a playable game and a worthy opponent.

Can you imagine the outcry if Arsenal walked off the pitch in the middle of a game against Aston Villa just because they'd heard from their coach that the league championship had already been decided by Man.United ? They'd be villafied [sic].
