Huh? Income taxes are paid by people who earn money through a paycheck. Rich people either don't file a W-2 or claim so many deductions that they pay less income taxes as a percentage than the lower income brackets.
For example, Mark Zuckerberg's taxable "income" according to the IRS is $1 per year.
Or the don himself stating that he doesn't pay taxes because he's smart.

News Flash: The Trumpublicans shut down the government because they don't want the ACA subsidies to continue. Firing government employees, taking political opponents to court, refusing to spend money on programs which aid the poor, ALL these government money and power grabs are ALL about using that money to pay for tax cuts for the rich.

That was my good friend, Rep. Greg Stanton (D-AZ). When he was mayor of Phoenix, we worked together to solve some of the biggest problems facing the homeless community here, lack of housing options, lack of shelters, a police force that was arresting homeless people every night, and lack of police protection for these citizens. Many of the policies we put in place are still active under current mayor Kate Gallego, the wife of Sen. Ruben Gallego. Greg and Kate are good people serving Phoenix and Arizona well.

I'm not sure I like use of the word "fault" here, but that's the hole in the the raise the minimum wage arguments.
If you're a primary breadwinner with a family at age 35 and are flipping burgers, I don't want to use the term "fault" as we don't know the situation, but clearly, something has gone wrong.
Flipping burgers is supposed to be for college kids or high school summerers or people getting back on their feet temporarily. It's not supposed to pay for the mortgage, the car and the 2.7 kids. It can't. If it did, a McD burger would cost $29.99.

My lack of offspring is not because I prioritize frivolous entertainment. I make 60k. Online formulas suggest I should pay 1200 for housing.

@AverageJoe1 This is a false narrative about the income tax. “Only 50% of us pay income taxes so the other half is living off of us.” Wrong. You have to look at the whole tax structure. Every wage earner pays social security and Medicare tax. Only those over $200K don’t pay their share. Everyone pays sales tax on what they purchase. Since lower income folks mostly use all of their income for consumption, they pay taxes on all of their earnings. Those wealthier are able to put money aside in savings, etc. Everyone in one way or another pay for the real estate taxes. Renters pay rent and their landlords include the tax in their calculations of the rent. And on and on. EVERYONE pays taxes, even if they are not citizens of this country.
