“It is my Great Honor to report that the United States of America now fully owns and controls 10% of INTEL, a Great American Company that has an even more incredible future,” President Donald Trump wrote yesterday afternoon on social media. He took the stake in the company after calling on August 7 for its chief executive officer, Lip-Bu Tan, to step down. When Tan met with Trump on August 11, the president says, he told Tan the U.S. “should be given 10% of Intel.” Tan agreed. Announcing the deal, Trump referred to Tan as “the Highly Respected Chief Executive Officer of the Company.”
Trump is using the National Guard and ICE to turn the US into a police state. Trump is destroying due process. Trump is making elections irrelevant. In 2017 Trump told a right wing evangelical group that if he wins, they will not have to worry about voting ever again. The far right GOP wants to eliminate the right for women to vote. Trump is instilling fear throughout the nation, threatening to shoot those who publicly protest. Trump is demanding loyalty tests to Trump and the GOP (not to our Constitution) for teachers and other public workers. In fact, he has spoken of not agreeing with everything in the Constitution. Trump is turning public schools into propaganda institutions for far right Christian political and social values by banning books and insisting on promoting the Bible. Trump is destroying the social safety net. Now, the government is buying up controlling interests in major corporations.
All of this is classic fascism. I doubt those of you on this site who support Trump are part of the billionaire class getting richer and more powerful. If you are, be careful. Oligarchs who fall out of favor often fall to the bottom. This is why large corporations, large law firms and large universities are bending a knee.
On top of all this, Trump has destroyed scientific research in the U.S. The success of our economy depends on our advanced scientific research in all fields related to STEM. Despite not manufacturing Christmas ornaments etc., we had the greatest global economy on the planet. The technology train moves fast and in one direction. We have hopped off and will not easily get back on. Trump and his supports have handed China the world. So sad.
@Phranny saidshut your mouth you hypocrite...

@Phranny saidNo economy stays the same and it is always fluid. The US had two choices, one going toward leftist liberal socialism which leads to a backward, degenerate and lazy minded society, and then there was Trump, who in a few months reversed some of the policies of the left. He:

- Controlled illegal immigration
- Stopped hiring based on stupid criteria influenced by DEI, WOKE, BLM
- Making inroads in ending the foolishness of the left which was allowing men in womens sports, washrooms and private changing areas
- Stopped forcing perverts in LGBTQ++, on young children, and ended the govt's support of Pride month [What the hell is that about ?]
- Discouraged support for terrorism in colleges
- Making an effort to put God back into schools
These are more critical issues for the development of any society than the rich getting richer, if indeed that is the case. In any case the people voted for fixing the society, which was in shambles.
@Phranny
Told you he would start nationalizing US companies.
There is literally no defense of this from the "small government reach", "don't tread on me", and "the Dems are communists" crowd and yet they will say this is a good idea and support it because they are weak, spineless morons.
The US is dead and MAGA killed it.
EDIT: I hope the MAGA bootlickers gets drafted first.
@Phranny saidTo take only one item from the long list of Trump's misdemeanors ...

Nationalizing companies is straight out of Fidel Castro's playbook. Yet nobody on the right wing seems disturbed by this. It's astonishing.
@Lundos saidNationalisation occurs when the government acquires controlling interest. Usually this is 51%. So for people to jump up and down calling a 10% stake nationalisation, means youall are drama queens and looking for attention.

Like with the breaking down the Constitution, the rule of law, the media, the Dems, the education system, the judiciary, the law firms, the military, the opposition, the ways elections are held, etc.
He's doing it right in front of you and he doesn't even bother hiding it.
And you might (claim) not be an American but you are certainly bootlicking like the best of the morons.
@moonbus saidHere is another example of exaggerating and creating drama. Castro, Chavez and other communist/socialist leaders, upon coming into power, forcefully removed foreign companies. They did not buyout these investors. The companies in which the govt had an interest, oil sector, manufacturing etc, were simply taken over and some of the investors were partially compensated or not compensated at all. Plus many foreign nationals were expelled from the country.

To liken and equate this behaviour to what Trump did in buying 10% stake in INTEL shows a lack of integrity on your part.
@Lundos saidCall it the right words then. It is not nationalisation.

@Mott-The-Hoople saidYet, you - yes you personally - was strongly opposed to that and now it's A-okay?
but they ignore obama actually doing it...gaining CONTROL of those institutions
And it wasn't the same. Obama's administration bailed out General Motors (GM) with approximately $50 billion in government support, leading to the company's restructuring and emergence from bankruptcy in 2009.
Intel isn't going bankrupt.
Stop making excuses and stop licking those orange nuts all day every day.
@Mott-The-Hoople saidAll govts invest in private enterprise. Its a normal thing.
but they ignore obama actually doing it...gaining CONTROL of those institutions
Its like how people were complaining about the Trump crackdown on illegal immgration and the mass deportation. Then with another mouth they themselves were boasting that Obama deported many more millions of illegals.
@Lundos saidThis is an example of many ... how you people are not able to discuss matters with facts and figures, and need to resort to insults, personal attacks, obscenities and vulgarities. This is a failure on you part.

@Rajk999 said"Nationalization (nationalisation in British English) is the process of transforming privately owned assets into public assets by bringing them under the public ownership of a national government or state."
Call it the right words then. It is not nationalisation.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationalization#cite_note-Ref_-1
Yeah, sure, we can call it part-ownership or part-nationalising.
@Rajk999 saidI don't "need" to insult you.

It's just an added bonus.
And stop lying. You never returned in the other "discussion" when you realized I was right. That's all on you.
