Brussels triggered Article 16 of the Northern Ireland Protocol in order to do so, which allows one side to unilaterally override the deal in certain circumstances. The move is explosive because it is anathema to the Good Friday Agreement, aimed at securing peace on the island of Ireland, and could trigger a retaliatory move from the U.K.

DUP leader Arlene Foster condemned the "incredible act of hostility" by the EU, arguing a "hard border" had been placed between Northern Ireland and the Republic.

This time.

How are people in Ireland to have confidence this will not occur again in the future when the EU is backed into a corner?

Genuine question.

But the wilfully dishonest duchess posts every other governments figures without tampering with them as if they reported by paragons of virtue and honesty.
No duchess posting imaginary figures that you have dreamt up according to your own fanatical prejudices is simply not good enough. Duchess must do better.
Your attempt to dishonestly skew the figures in favour of whatever point you thought you were making is not one iota different from lying, again, it’s like a drug for you isn’t it.
