You know nothing.
And to think, just because I oppose NATO, that I support Putin is about as trailer-trash as it comes.
NATO had F-all to today with the USSR imploding. All dictatorships come to an end, so to with the USSR.
Afghanistan drained them financially. Their "empire" drained them financially. The weapons race drained their resources which led to people be ...[text shortened]... ing big happens.
It slurps money and creates an unstable planet.
Wake up, you inbred toss-pot.
NATO prevented the westward expansion of the Russian empire (Soviet Union) and after an I’ll feted attempted expansion south it collapsed.
Which is when the resentful young KGB officer Vladimir Putin had to borrow a car from a friend to get him and his family out of East Germany.
This war has told us two things we couldn’t be sure of before.
A) Russia under the undemocratic regime of Putin is entering an expansionist policy era that began with the invasion of Georgia
B) Its military machine is no match for NATO and without its long range weapons and air superiority it would be unable to subdue a poorly armed and numerically inferior Ukraine.
The term ‘NATO’s eastward expansion’ is a misnomer all that happened is that a whole bunch of European countries that suffered 50yrs of subjugation and occupation by the Kremlin sought refuge under the umbrella of the alliance that had stared that empire down for the same time.
You and some others here need to ask yourselves why you think they should be denied that security because it apparently angers the despot currently ruling that very same occupier.

You do realize that most of the countries that "suffered 50yrs of subjugation and occupation by the Kremlin" willingly joined with the Nazis in WWII in attacking the USSR in a war that left 25 million dead in the latter?
Russia has suffered far more destructive invasions from the West than the West ever suffered from Russia. Maybe that history and the transformation of NATO into an aggressive military arm of neocons preaching Western world wide domination has something to do with Russia's reluctance to allow it to expand into traditional Russian territories.
EDIT: You might add to that the fact that Western leaders lied to both USSR and Russian officials in claiming that NATO had no intention to expand into Eastern Europe (a promise that was essential to the agreement by the USSR to allow German reunification).
NATO has built a missile base about 100 miles from the Russian border. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/16/world/europe/poland-missile-base-russia-ukraine.html
From the article:
"The Polish base, the heart of which is a system known as Aegis Ashore, contains sophisticated radars capable of tracking hostile missiles and guiding interceptor rockets to knock them out of the sky. It is also equipped with missile launchers known as MK 41s, which the Russians worry can be easily repurposed to fire offensive missiles like the Tomahawk."
One should remember that the US, with NATO's puppy-like support, unilaterally withdrew from the INF Treaty in 2019 and began to test ground based cruise missiles and intermediate range ballistic missiles that exceeded the range limits of the treaty.

Think before you answer
Russia invaded Poland at the same time as Germany when it formed an alliance with Hitler.
@no1marauder saidOMG imagine Poland wanting an anti missile system to stop those totally justifiable same weapons that the Russians are now raining down on the heads of Ukrainian women and children. The war mongering Polish swine. Clearly Russia has missiles that can reach Poland but you seem to think Poland should not be able to defend itself.

Croatia was a Nazi client state as well.
Poland waged wars against Ukraine and Russia right after WWI.
@kevcvs57 saidWhen the Soviets put a missile base 90 miles from the US to defend Cuba, the US was willing to push to the brink of nuclear war to have it removed.

Why do you think the Russians should be any more accepting of a missile base in Poland 100 miles from their border than the US was of a missile base in Cuba?
@kevcvs57 saidI'm willing to bet that missile base in Poland was there long before Russia invaded the Ukraine.

And although I’d lovingly sell Poland to Putin for a bottle of vodka, Russia hardly wants those right-wing arses any more than I do.
However, what Russia doesn’t want, as has been pointed out multiple times to you, is a heavily armed NATO force, with aggressive Americans behind the triggers, on their doorsteps.
NATO is a force for evil. It gets used at wrong times, it’s deterrent fuction is minimal and it costs buckets and buckets loads of money. Money that could be better spent on building trade with Russia and creating a more constructive world.
@no1marauder saidYour 70yr old posturing about what weak and invaded countries did when caught between two merciless empire building monsters proves the worth of NATO more than anything I could drag up. Clearly you do not have a rational contemporary argument against the existence of NATO.

“ Poland waged wars against Ukraine and Russia right after WWI.”
Your sinking to new depths of deception here, Poland fought against Russian occupation, is that ok with you?
That brave fight was finally won by the solidarity movement started by the trade unions of the Gdańsk shipyard.
Clear to see which side you were on

You cannot believe that Poland is a right wing regime in comparison to the Kremlin. I’m sorry if some Polish bloke humped a loved on of yours, or perhaps some Polish woman wouldn’t let you hump her but your obvious hatred of the Poles is no basis for a rational analysis regarding the future of Europe.
Perhaps you and No1 could assure the rest of Europe that Putin is going to stop at the western border of Ukraine, oh and don’t forget to drop the Taiwanese a note of assurance regarding its independence from Chinese central control once that evil NATO has been disbanded in the name of world peace 🙄
