Ukraine accuses pro-Russia rebels of ‘provocation’ after reports of shelling near border

Ukraine has claimed pro-Russian separatists in the country’s east opened fire on civilian territory on Thursday, damaging a kindergarten.

Meanwhile, Russian-controlled media agency RIA claimed on Thursday that Ukrainian forces had shelled territory held by pro-Moscow separatists.

The U.S. has warned that Moscow may use false claims about the conflict in eastern Ukraine as a pretext for an invasion of the country.

“The shelling damaged kindergartens and communal infrastructure — half of the village was left without electricity.”

Without all those Russian divisions parked on the border this would be the every day claim and counter claim that goes on between them.
Russia is either stupid enough to play into the hands of Kievs hawks or Russia wants some more land grabbing conflict on the border.
I don’t know it’s the latter but I very much doubt it’s the former.

Yup. It was predictable. We know what he did in Georgia, we know what he did in the Crimea, we know what he did in eastern Ukraine, and he's doing it again.

I understand why the US right doesn't want to admit this - it would mean going with Biden and against Trump - but why do some people on the left refuse to see the kind of man Putin is?

That last point has me a bit perplexed too, it’s not like the Kremlin is in any way subtle and solidly right wing in domestic and foreign policy. I guess we on the left have been rightly suspicious of western intelligence agencies and military adventures for so long it’s hard to keep in mind that the ‘lesser of two evils’ concept applies here.
Moscows latest demand is that the US takes all its military out of Eastern Europe, as I say, “in no way subtle”. When NATO does not cede to their ridiculous demands they will blame their own preplanned aggression on the west.

HUH?
How do you reason that
the left is pro-Putin?
If anything, it's quite the opposite.
Who can forget TRUMP's sterling
performance in HELSINKI?

We know what kind of man Putin is but really Ukraine is not in any way the business of the USA. It’s not in NATO and it’s not anywhere near the US or our natural area of influence. We’ve gotten tired of the endless ranting about how America won’t stay out of other peoples business and our “imperialism”.

Afghanistan wasn’t a problem for the vast majority of your nato allies but that didn’t stop us from having your back when the twin towers went down.
If you think that Russia kicking your ass out of Europe isn’t a problem then hey don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.
Putin isn’t only threatening Ukraine! He’s threatening the existence of nato as an effective alliance and China is holding his jacket for him, can you see the bigger picture yet?

If Russia or Ukraine blow up Big Ben then we will have your back but Ukraine is not Big Ben.

Kicking our ass out of Europe? It was the UK that kicked la Hispanidad out of Europe. The USA left Europe centuries ago but your constant wars keep dragging us back in.

I don’t agree

Let’s not forget that the US is equipping Ukraine with various missiles and assault rifles.

NATO should have been disbanded after the fall of the USSR. It has done nothing but militarily meddle in the affairs of countries who were no threat to the West since.

Russia slams US false flag claim

The allegations are reminiscent of fake claims in 2003 that Iraq had biological weapons, Moscow’s Washington embassy says

Name one or two and remember that Vietnam and Iraq were not nato projects.

Are you a refugee from the renaissance?
Even though Putin has demanded that nato forces leave Eastern European countries that are in nato you think he’s going to be happy with just Ukrainian annexation, really?
