@great-king-rat saidWelcome to the world of POC.
What it leads to is a person not getting hired for the job they applied to because of the colour of their skin.
@no1marauder saidWhile you erroneously believe that this is a remedy it is merely explicit discrimination to ban someone from a job and any sensible person would find it morally deplorable and would punish those engaging in this deplorable behavior.
This "discrimination" (normally the word in this context means an "unjustified distinction" ) will lead to POC being equitably represented in the BBC workforce while the prior discrimination led to an inequitable, racist result.
An "idiot" probably would have understanding such a difference.
@great-king-rat saidYou have to first undo decades of POC being denied jobs based on skin color. One way, is what the BBC is doing.
Are in favour of “POC” not getting jobs based on their skin colour?
@great-king-rat saidNow you understand.
So for the foreseeable future, white people should expect to be denied a job based on their skin colour?
Awesome. What a great direction we’re heading in!
Racism is acceptable, only if it is against whites, especially white males.
It all depends on how it’s implemented.
If the rule is by equal suitability, choose the person from an under-represented group.
That’s fine. Then when the next group is under-represented, it gains an advantage when the equal suitability comes around.
This guarantees quality and ultimately leads to diversification of the workforce.
On the other hand, if the blind are under-represented by bus drivers, use your bloody brains and think.
There’s a but. There’s always a but…
Some studies and jobs don’t attract certain groups.
University tech studies in Delft don’t attract 50% women. So, finding handicapped, pan-sexual blond women to do tech jobs is a bit of a bummer. So, that has to be reflected as well.
The real problem arises when the systems get pressurized because some people want change fast. Cultural change doesn’t work like that, and ultimately that is the main goal of diversification and inclusion.
@great-king-rat saidPoor whites, missing out on an £18,000 a year job. That would be a whopping $12 an hour in U.S. money.
So for the foreseeable future, white people should expect to be denied a job based on their skin colour?
Awesome. What a great direction we’re heading in!
Calm down. Whites will be just fine.
@no1marauder saidWith tax payer money and they discriminate by color?? Only a flaming liberal racist could say such a thing.
Seems fair in a company that admits POC are underrepresented in their workforce.
@great-king-rat saidtwue 'dat.
And those “remedial measures” are exactly the same as before, only now whitey gets discriminated against instead of blacky.
Idiots.
Same old liberals/democrats support it, too. They really think if they change the color of the skin that
they discriminate against from black to white that they are not discriminating.
