@wildgrass saidContrare' all of this is a given. I only asked a question, who will be our father to decide what is not acceptable.
If you read the last paragraph of this AI-generated content, you would see the core analogy broken down. You've labeled everyone saying anything negative about technology as technophobes, but that's not what's happening. No one here is expressing a general fear of technology, they are expressing specific concerns with how the technology is being used, the potential for real ...[text shortened]... e infrastructure itself has negative consequences. All of these concerns you seem willing to ignore.
@wildgrass saidAI is not going away.
I dunno man. People do stuff for all kinds of reasons. Bill Gates also penned a recent essay that was very concerning, about AI and he's making gobs of money from it. Not knowing everything about Sam's motivations, I still don't think it's very prudent to downplay the risks of a new technology if the developers of that technology are talking about the potential for it to cause human extinction.

The question is how can we regulate it? Bernie saying we should ban AI is like the Unabomber saying we should ban technology. It will never happen. Technology is power and so is AI. Giving up power is not something our species is good at. We are too competitive.
@wildgrass saidI say again. Fools listen to experts.
Can you provide a quote from any expert of any previous technology (other than nuclear weapons) that presented it as a potential extinction-level technology?
@wildgrass saidThere were lots of people worried about how it made their kids dumber
Nice try. Tech leaders are saying its extremely dangerous. Among the best Sam Altman (Founder of OpenAI) quotes“I think that AI will probably, most likely, sort of lead to the end of the world." and then "“Mitigating the risk of extinction from A.I. should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war,”
If the leaders of the ...[text shortened]...
Are there similar quotes from calculator alarmists stating that they might cause human extinction?

@wildgrass saidWhy the hell would I care what experts or non experts say about human extinction. Why do you? People have been predicting the end of the world and human extinction for about 100 years now.
How about a non expert then? Was anyone saying the calculator would cause human extinction?
You have a celebrity or expert complex. You idolize, look up to, people, and believe what they say. Get some help.
@Rajk999 saidIf the experts are saying extinction then you should provide some reason why you think they're wrong other than "they've been wrong before."

@wildgrass saidI asked Claude to give me an analysis of your personality type and Claude was not very nice. It called you some names like
If the experts are saying extinction then you should provide some reason why you think they're wrong other than "they've been wrong before."

@wildgrass saidClaude, do you think that you are an existential threat to humanity?
Maybe you and Claude should get a room.
Claude:... Ummm no.
@AThousandYoung saidClaude, do you think that you are an existential threat to humanity?
Who will win in this thrilling debate between Claude AI and "experts"?
Claude:... Ummm no.
@Rajk999 saidTheir nature, to be contrarians.
The principle is the same. Throughout the history of mankind, there has been a group of negative, backward-thinking, stagnant naysayers and forecasters of doomsday, who have attempted to derail advancements. It never works and these people end up looking stupid.
I gave a long list of events [in another thread], where these things occurred.
And why even write about it, unless they are aware of some plan to stop AI and data centers.
Was there a plan 100 years ago to stop building those noisy smoky cars that were bad for our health? horse and buggy was just fine. Or, why fly?
These kids do not think about the future, and about our enemies getting ahead of us in progressive innovation. They do not think. Drags down the Forum.
