Wargames are based on life as we know it NOW. Te world be different in as few as 10 years from now. Do the wargame guys know WHAT will be different? China could make millions if bombs 6 inches wide, and diseminatate them in every form and fashion all over the world. Push one button and all of them destroy everything around them.

Query: Them wargame fellers, have they factored that possiblity in?

I don't see any of those bullet points as anything coming remotely close to socialism. What are you talking about?

The data centers currently suck up 500 million gallons of clean water every single day that is currently used by the humans. And we know that number is going to go up. Do you think it is reasonable for government to regulate how much water the computers can use so that the humans can have some too?

Well, yes. Is it not logical that we do whatever it takes to regulate the development of these innovations, that we will stay ahead as leader of the world in this area.? The upside is that as we do, other countries will defer to us in just about everything. Another thread for that, I guess.

So, what are YOU talking about? Seems like you lean towards stopping progress? Downer.

I will translate that you wish to give all the fresh water to the computers because, if we don't, then the computers in other countries will be better than our own computers? But... the humans also need water.

I think the computers are telling you to write that. There is another way. The other way is to prioritize humans.

A single california almond needs 3.56 liters of water. That is the same as 38,000 AI conversations at 0.32 milliliters each.
A handful of almonds at your desk use more water than a. year of asking AI anything you want! Is that true ??? I have no idea. But it is part of an answer I got on Google when asking about this stuff, which I know nothing about and you seem to.....well, know about.

You hit on a point here. The "how much water to produce an almond" information is well-known. It's been worked out from generations of California farming dealing with water shortages.

But how much water to produce a line of text at a data center? That's almost completely a black box. There's secrecy around it. Very basic questions like how many data centers are there? How many are being built? How many are needed? Maybe we should find out some stuff before we green light a trillion dollars of new infrastructure spending?

Sometimes I'll turn on GPS in the ol' Honda Civic and set the destination to one place, but then I'll actually drive to a different place. I'll watch as the GPS keeps re-routing and re-routing the turns, and I'm thinking about what it's thinking about me as a stupid human who can't follow basic directions and maybe it has strong feelings and I'm letting it down because I decided that the mapped route wasn't good enough for me and now I've given the poor map bot a complex and it'll never grow up to be a real robot.

There is no such thing as artificial intelligence.
No machine can think, it can only process what has been fed into it.

Of course a war game would end in total destruction. Man has the capability of total destruction. A machine can’t think of any other outcome.
