@earl-of-trumps saidMost Human Rights are protected under Council of Europe and/or UN conventions.
What???
I felt sorry for the human rights of Brits when they had to live under EU control.
Don't blame them for getting out.
Nothing will change in that regard when the UK leaves the EU.
What Brits (as you call them) will potentially lose is workers' rights.
@earl-of-trumps saidWhat do you mean by "national unity"?
I forgot. Silly of me.
you hate god, and you hate kids thinking that it is good to believe in national unity
Everyone thinking as you perhaps?
@earl-of-trumps saidDespite all the things that are wrong with the EU, human rights are probably better protected by Brussels than they are by any other of the major political forces in the world. I appreciate that's not saying much.

The Conservative Party pledged in 2015 to abolish the 1998 Human Rights Act (passed originally with overwhelming cross-party support) which incorporated the European Convention of Human Rights into British law. This pledge was suspended due to the conflict over Brexit, but the 2019 Conservative manifesto includes a pledge to "update" it in order to "ensure that there is a proper balance between the rights of individuals, our vital national security and effective government", an obvious euphemism for a process of chipping away at citizens' rights on grounds of "security" and "effectiveness". Let's not forget that the ECHR is a product of the Council of Europe, a body that includes even such semi-democracies as Russia and Turkey - in fact, every recognised state wholly in Europe is a member, except Belarus. So the Tories want to line us up with the "last dictatorship in Europe".
@earl-of-trumps saidYeah I don’t really hate imaginary creatures earl I just despise their very real ring masters.
I forgot. Silly of me.

“national unity” has to be organic, you can’t really manufacture it by brain washing kids in school, you just end up with very disenchanted adults when reality sinks in.
I think the most common denominator on the right is the sense of loss for this “national unity” that never actually existed. That’s why their comptrollers create a siege and national crisis mentality in order to manipulate that sense of loss.
@wolfgang59 saidAnother trollie rollie

bullslips. Don't tell me, junior, I'll tell you. There was a time when Americans
were proud to be American and proud of America's accomplishments.
Spin all you want but don't be surprised if you get called out on it.
@earl-of-trumps saidSome Americans earl, some Americans, probably not the ones sitting at the back of the bus, probably not the ones whose kids weren’t welcome in the same school as the white kids, probably not ones living desperate lives in the ruins of some of your inner cities, not the ones who had to rely on charity or watch their loved ones die due to lack of affordable health care if they didn’t have a house to remortgage, to name but a few.

But yeah America has done some amazing stuff and you guys have a lot to be proud of as well as things to hang your head about.
Do you only see things in absolute terms earl, or are consciously ignoring the nuances.
@earl-of-trumps saidStill waiting for you to substantiate this post Earl!
Apparently, Turkey has the same conservative objections that Poland has, and
it is not about domestic violence, which is a crime.
The EU is saying that you must teach in the classrooms LGBTQ and other things
that go against their beliefs, as part of the whole package. In other words, brainwashing.
Where does the EU say what you claim?
How would the EU affect Turkey (a non-member?)
What is in the Istanbul Convention regarding LGBTQ rights?
@wolfgang59 saidLegit your ass.
Another non-answer to a legitimate question.
You: "What do you mean by "national unity"?
Everyone thinking as you perhaps?"
You expect me to get into a discussion with you about what "national unity" is?
Bullship. You're trolling and you know it.,
And slamming me with "everybody thinks like me"???
You're debasing me and trolling, and you know it.
I won't respond to this trash. You want an argument? Talk to Kev. He does too
@earl-of-trumps saidYou do a great job at debasing yourself Earl, you don't need my help.
You're debasing me and trolling, and you know it.
You want an argument?
Want an argument?
It's called holding a contrary opinion, debating.
You can't do it, you fail every time, you just spout nonsense and run.
If you cannot debate you should go.
