Capitalists praise competition as their purist ideology, yet they fear competition with socialism or anything that may be going in that direction.
The Vietnam war was sold to the American public on the claim that socialism would spread and it would be like a domino effect so we had to go to war to keep that from happening.
That wreaks of capitalist hypocrisy! Nikki Haley Haley said. "And we know that socialism has failed everywhere." That implies socialism is such a failure it always collapses under it's own weight because it cannot compete.
This begs a fair question: Why do capitalists try to suppress socialism with sanctions, trade embargoes, coups and war for regime change?
Seems to me that capitalists know socialists can compete and that is why they hate it so much and feel the need to conspire against it and suppress it before people find out it serves the interest of the majority, spreads and eventually out-competes capitalism.
No, Nikki Haley and Trump are liars. They hate the very competition they claim to embrace. If they didn't, they would allow fair competition between socialism and capitalism. They would feel no need to convince you socialism is horrible. They would allow competition and let the most competitive to prevail with a level playing field if they were confident of what they falsely claim.
The suppression a socialism proves capitalists do not believe in their own stated preference of competition. If they did, they would have no need to suppress anything close to socialism and would outcompete it as they falsely imply is possible.

BTW, Einstein was a socialist. Capitalists fear the majority of people will get better educated and realize what is in their own interests, like Einstein did.
@Metal-Brain - Capitalists praise competition as their purist ideology, yet they fear competition with socialism
Let people who are socialists (communists with lipstick) set up their own communities to compete.
No problem! - As long as such communities are voluntary. Nobody likes living
and working at the point of a gun.
@metal-brain saidThat's the main reason for opposition to "Medicare For All" or Obamacare. Obamacare was seen as a realistic competitor to insurance companies; Republicans, being pro-big business even at the expense of the common person, called Obamacare "the worst law in U.S. history" and even "the worst law in human history" (actual quotes from Republicans).

@vivify saidObamacare is essentially the republican health care proposal. The individual mandate is a republican idea. The republicans pretended to oppose their own idea and the democrats were duped into defending republican policy.

Tell ya what, metal-brain...
You take North Korea and I'll take South Korea. Let them compete.
You take East Germany and I'll take West Germany. Let them compete.
Let me know when you cry "Uncle".
@metal-brain saidThe idea was originally Mitt Romney's; that doesn't necessarily make it a "Republican" proposal. Had Romney won the presidency his version of the mandate would likely have been shut down by Republicans as well.

I thought Germany unified.
There is a part of Portugal in the northern part of the country where worker co-ops exist and they are flourishing. Socialism can compete just fine if people let it. The problem is that capitalists use underhanded tactics to suppress it before it has a chance to compete. Cuba would do much better without the US imposing a trade embargo. Let them compete on equal ground.
Venezuela would do better without the US imposing crippling sanctions while oil prices are low. The UK could return the gold they stole from them too. The US could stop stealing tankers that were bringing refined fuel to Venezuela. Trump has a lot of nerve blaming socialism for Venezuela's problems when he is overtly stealing from them and he knows the Bank of England stole from them as well. The coup attempts don't help either.
Many of the nations you think are socialist are not really socialist.
@Metal-Brain - I would not take either Koreas.
That's not the answer. I said, let them compete. That is what YOU demanded.
Ok, so they competed. 60 years, they have been competing. Who is winning?
@Metal-Brain - I thought Germany unified.
What happened when they competed?? you keep evading your own issue. Let's go, dude.
You couldn't get two more fair cases. Both splits were from one country, one ethnicity.
What made them differ was the political system.
They competed. What happened? I'm trying to address your original premise. You are not helping
@earl-of-trumps saidBut your denying his valid point about capitalist states not allowing socialist states to compete. Instead they get together and wage economic and actual (overt and or covert) war on them, clearly taking their orders from their capitalist overlords in Wall Street etc.

As a fanatical proponent of capitalism you cannot keep repeating your ‘let them compete’ mantra without addressing the fact that you do not allow a socialist system to survive, let alone compete.
@kevcvs57 - But your denying his valid point about capitalist states not allowing socialist states to compete.
This just simply is not true.
Private people can start communes, kibbutzes. socialist towns. It's all fair game.
But in the end, it is not living in socialist meccas that people want, it is FORCING
people, entire countries, to live under their command, often ruthless.
I believe in freedom. If you want to live in socialist society, please do. And if you want to START
a socialist society, please do. But don't ever force me to live in it. I demand freedom
@kevcvs57 saidit is not that they dont allow a socialist state to survive, it is that they cant survive.

New York state and california are two prime examples of this.
Their collapse is not from any conservative actions.
Pelosi trying to bail them out not under the guise of covid.
@mott-the-hoople saidAnd nobody will ever look at the terrible example the lib states have shown America,

they will just insist that the free states bail out the loon states.
But what if the entire of America was like New York and California?
Who bails out America, the EU? Hardly.
@earl-of-trumps saidApplying sanctions is NOT allowing them to compete. Drop the sanctions so we can find out how they can compete on level ground.

You are denying facts to make your case and you have no case.
@Metal-Brain
Socialist states all over the world have had their shot at it. Why should I want to see the reigns of my country
turned over to the socialists just to see them prove what we already know, hard socialism fails all the time.
I don't think I need to try out being a slave to know slavery is a bad thing for me, ya know?
But while we are debating this, what do socialists want to demonstrate their case?
Full control? partial control? You have wistfully played the artful dodger telling me
why my examples of fair competition is not your idea of "fair". So try telling us what is?
Enquiring minds need to know.
