I did and you know it. I posted the definition for you before and you know it. Here it is again.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/socialism

Stop pretending you don't have the definition. Notice the definition says absolutely nothing about social programs.

It is you that are being evasive. Stop projecting.
If you are suggesting that the government be allowed to enslave people so as to
control the distribution of goods and services, the answer is NO.

People deserve to be free. Period.

Do 300 million Americans have to forgo their freedom and turn power over to you so we can be fair and give socialism a chance?
My, my, you do have an ego/power trip problem, now, don't you.

@kevcvs57 “ Free Market is not Freedom or anything like. There is actually no philosophical or practical relationship between the two.

Well then you just do not know your ass from your elbow.
Fee market is but a subset of total freedom.

If I want to hire Jim to cut my lawn, who the FOOK is the government to interfere with that?

Are you telling me you can have the right to strive for your own survival taken
away from you by Big Gov, being free???

Ya. that's what they all said.

@metal-brain and Jack apply for the job of "tug boat captain",

Jack has a safe record, but metal-brain has a record of running aground 40 ships in his career. so, naturally, Jack gets the job.

metal-brain complains, "you're just are afraid of competition"

Pffffttttt.... Please, junior.

Then eliminate it.

I am talking about a free system versus socialism.
You are making the mistake of assuming free means fair. That is not the way it works.

I gave you the definition of socialism and you are pretending it is something different. If you are fooling anyone, it is yourself and not anyone else.

Name one nation that has control of the distribution of goods and services. Can you do that?

I never said "free" was "fair". Anybody can cook up a definition of "fair". We all have opinions.

"Free" means you are allowed to work on your own behalf with no interference from
civilians or government. You are free to rise and free to fall, too.

Done doing the sidestepping here???

This is YOUR thread and you are destroying it.

"Capitalists hate competition: The hypocrisy"

YOU... are the one that has to tell us which country hates competition, and what
needs to be done to allow fair competition.

Every attempt I have tried you have just poo-pooed. Let's get with it. Give us the parameters.

I would not take either Koreas.
I thought Germany unified.

There is a part of Portugal in the northern part of the country where worker co-ops exist and they are flourishing. Socialism can compete just fine if people let it. The problem is that capitalists use underhanded tactics to suppress it before it has a chance to compete. Cuba would do much better without the ...[text shortened]... ns you think are socialist are not really socialist.

Just glanced, scrolled, at this silly thread theme. But what a GREAT example of lib-brain with Metal’s post! In response to a hypothetical, ‘take either south or north korea’, he says ‘neither’! You are as wimpy as Biden. Why dont you respect your fellow-poster by allowing for his point, being to choose free enterprise, etc, vs govt-own- your-ass. Please be respectful, not rude. Pitiful.

I said this:

You are clearly evading the definition so you can keep perverting it to foist myths on us. You cannot name a single nation that meets the definition of socialist. That is because socialism doesn't really exist.

You are misrepresenting what I have said. I said capitalists hate competition, not nations. That is like saying every single person in a capitalist nation is a capitalist. Clearly not true.

Your examples of socialist countries that failed are not socialist nations and those that are even remotely close to it always have sanctions imposed, trade embargoes or some other method that does not allow them to compete fairly. Even war was used to suppress Marxists in Vietnam for example.

Capitalists clearly fear socialism can out compete capitalism. They wouldn't need to bomb Marxists if capitalists were confident they could out compete them.

Are you implying the DPRK is a socialist nation? It isn't.

He has no point. One must be socialist for there to be a point. Neither is.

Your brain is working somewhat like Biden’s. No idea what you say. Anyway, I havent read the above posts, have you or can you tell us where Socialism has worked? Im serious.

Ok if losing an argument then be disingenuous and hyperbolic.
If your using the term “Free Market” in a grown up debate your really talking about Laisse faire economics being synonymous with personal freedom and it’s not.
No one has a problem with Jim cutting your lawn if your too lazy to do it yourself. But there is a problem if Jim buys up all the lawn mowers so you have to pay him and him alone. There’s also a problem if Jim is hiring Bob to do the actual mowing and not providing Bob with H & S equipment. There are many perfectly good reasons for the government to get involved.
Exploitation isn’t freedom it’s exploitation.
By the way how can you be a fan of the free market place and Trump at the same time?
I wouldn’t go accusing anyone of not knowing their ass from their elbow until you’ve managed to find either one of yours.

No entire nation is socialist, that does not exist. There is a region of Portugal that is and is a success though.

Why not keep the argument here at home, about the libs' need to control the production and distribution of services,,,,you know, from each according to their ability to each according to their needs. Because,, that is what you are talking about. There are Many recent examples, like Eliz Warren wanting to require companies to put assembly line workers on a Board.

I am assuming, of course, that you support socialism, reducing how much the rich guy can keep of his wealth , etc. Am I off base??
