It was obviously to create an excuse for a military buildup by the USA.
Why should anyone Skype anyone why should China get to decide who visits who.
This is clearly more about the CCPs domestic audience and since when has the US needed an excuse for a military buildup anywhere

China's hypersonic missiles could easily detonate 3 or 4 small 200KT nukes at 100 miles high which would knock out all electrical power in the US for many months.
By then over 90% of the population would be dead and China could move in and take whatever they wanted, inviting Russia to come in and do the same.
Meanwhile, the useful idiots here, if still alive, would welcome the change I bet.

Even if we did, we'd need someone in the White House that could respond to a Chinese attack without waiting to be told what to do, and even then I don't see him doing anything but breaking down crying and asking for someone to help him to the toilet.
Maybe he could look up Corn Pop and get his advice.

The U.S. military doesn't twiddle its thumbs waiting for orders on how to defend the country during imminent attacks. Anti-missile defenses would be automatically activated with or without the president.

The president would be consulted regarding counter measures like whether to invade, launch nukes, etc.

China and Russia would do well to minimize the threat-making.

God forbid that there's ever a true "shooting" war.

But rest assured, the United States is technologically capable of defending itself while also prosecuting offensive measures.

Preparations for contemporary hostilities have been underway for over 40 years.

Thus, a legitimate reason to offer "thoughts and prayers" for sanity and calm.
