The French are said to have to have refused to grant ciitenzeship to a woman who insisted on wearing a 'burqa' on the grounds that her radical interpretation of Islam is incompatible with its valiues.
It is more than time that all European Countries took the same line.
We must not allow radical Islamics any more license .

Great, discrimination on the grounds of wanting to wear certain clothes. If wearing a headdress makes you incompatible with a country's values, they must be pretty damned intolerant.

Incredible that people criticize the decision. Our toleration of anything in the name of fair play will be our downfall. They certainly don't reciprocate.

Anything that gives them more reason to think we're against them is just going to make things worse. She's going to go home and be more likely to sympathise with the terrorists and encourage others to do so.

That´s no reason to stop doing what you think is correct regardless of whether it is actually a reasonable position to take or not. She applied to become a French citizen. The French are perfectly entitled to decide if they want someone or not. You cant expect them to accept someone out of fear of the consequences if they don´t.

Muslims in France don't demand every woman in France wear burqas, do they?

Good to hear. I think there's considerable reason to be concerned: a woman who holds those extreme conservative values may condone rape committed by conservative Muslim men against Western women, for example. Until the problems related to crime by conservative Muslims are resolved or at least better contained, Western countries should be very careful about letting Muslim immigrants -- particularly conservative ones -- in the door.

Saw one of these in the library a while back, celebrating diversity or whatever. It looked like a space suit with a tiny mesh air hole for the face that you couldn't see through. Some wit put a post-it note over it saying "HELP ME".
