In any case, this is just a discussion forum. I don't think we're obligated to limit our discussion to things that we can or should actually change.
You're free to do so, by all means.

Take my comment as a compliment rather than a prohibition, dude.

So the real issue at hand is: why do people take actors seriously when it comes to politics? It sure would have prevented a horrible eight year presidency if people didn't care about the opinion of actors.

Never miss a chance to get in a dig at Reagan, do you? πŸ˜‰

I should also note that the endorsement of virtually every actor probably helped Obama get elected. Although, of course, it's unclear whether he needed those endorsements anyway.

Well, the main factor that got Obama elected was the "endorsement" of W's legacy.

What I don't like, and I guess this is broader than just Swayze, is when public figures scold us peons for doing things that they're 10 times as "guilty" of. If you're going to make something your mission in life and tell other people to act in accordance with your mission, at least you ought to follow your own dictates to the extent practical.

...
Which you don't substantiate at all, you just state a pissy little opinion in a pissy little way.

Say, why don't you and Kayne West go to an animal shelter and step on kittens together? You'd make a good team.

Biden and his "compound" of 5 mansions all driving SUV's come to mind etc. And the list goes on and on and on and on...... These people are beyond our help other than the help of us showing them the door!!!!

and those angelic republicans car pool in a hybrid, shower every other day to preserve water, recycle newspapers into toilet paper to reduce waste, and hug kittens in their spaer time

Typical meaningless ad hominem attack.

You're pissy! You step on kittens! Waaaaaaa...

I'm sure you can do better than that if you try...

In the meantime...

What I want to know though, is why choose an actor who just died to make your point? I'm sure your point could have been made with one of the many who are still living. I'm not all teary eyed for someone I didn't know, but to me it's just a matter of respect.

Although I did laugh at the "Ghost sequel" joke so maybe I'm the hypicrit here.

Well, let me see if I can explain the answer to that question:

I did not set out to make the point and then look through various articles about various people to garner examples.

I happened to have been reading about Swayze last night because of his death (you know, you read a headline, so you look up the Wikipedia page, etc.) and based on the things I read about him, the point was brought to the front and center of my mind. I did not set out to pick on Swayze. The idea generated itself because of the articles about his death.

If not for Swayze's death, the issue simply wouldn't have been on my radar last night.

FYI, I also laughed at the Ghost sequel line.

While my condolences go out to his family, blah blah blah... I couldn't help but noticing two statements as I read a bit about him on the net.

From the article cited above:

[i]Off-screen, he was an avid conservationist who was moved by his time ...[text shortened]... ed thousands of times the carbon that most people he so scornfully criticized do.
😞

Sad.

I couldn't find anything from a reputable source addressing anything but their trip to Europe.

Apparantly it cost about a quarter of a million dollars to fly back and forth to Chicago using Air Force One.
