The alternate electors were never fake. If they were real in Hawaii they were real in the 5 of 7 states they were prosecuted for being alternate electors for Trump. No, they didn't (have power). Stone and Navarro thought they could take advantage of the threatened Senators to pass their slates of electors. That's how they got busted. Pence knew they were fake and refused to accept them, keeping the original real electors. This is why the Jan. 6 crowd were chanting "Hang Mike Pence".
