Pastor Wilson thinks wives should not vote; their husbands should vote for them. Pete Hegseth also thinks wives shouldn't vote, citing Wilson. Yup, that's what they think. They phrase it in a different way, of course, to cover up what they really think; they phrase it to make it sound good, like 'family' stuff, ya know. But what they really think is that wives should defer to their husbands to vote for the entire "household", because "man cherish, wife obey", subordination of females to males, is the Evangelical ticket.
Here is a link to the article:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/aug/09/pete-hegseth-video-pastors-women-voting
and a quote form the article:
Hegseth reposted a CNN segment on X on Thursday that focuses on pastor Doug Wilson, a Christian nationalist who co-founded the Idaho-based Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC). In the segment, he raises the idea of women not voting.
“I would like to see this nation being a Christian nation, and I would like this world to be a Christian world,” Wilson said.
Another pastor interview by CNN for its segment, Toby Sumpter, said: “In my ideal society, we would vote as households. I would ordinarily be the one to cast the vote, but I would cast the vote having discussed it with my household.”
end quote
My two cents: I am quite happy with the idea of Mrs. Hegseth not voting. And all the Trump wives; in fact, retro-actively annul all their votes in all previous elections. I could think of a few others, too, just give me a moment ...
PS to Suzi: I bet this really gets yer dander up ! 😆
@moonbus saidEVERY MUSLIM thinks that....what exactly is your point?

@Mott-The-Hoople saidShouldn't be happening in America. Universal suffrage--ever heard of it?

@moonbus saidYes, I read this the other day and spent some time after steaming about it.

A Beethoven concerto or two later, though, and I was okay.
But this is what I'm always on about in Spirituality about Christians vs. MAGA "Christians". Jesus said, "They have their reward."
@Mott-The-Hoople saidMuslims aren't Christian.

I wonder why I'm even explaining this to you.
@Suzianne saidUuuuh, which Beethoven Concerto? My fave is Piano Concerto Nr. 2 ('Emperor' ). Rubenstein/Barenboim performance.

It is pretty obvious that MAGA Christians (CHINOS -- Christian in name only) haven't a clue what Jesus actually enjoined and embodied. It most certainly was not kidnapping and deporting people whose names sound like Gomez or Hernandez or Jesus or Maria, or denying outcasts (then: lepers; today: trans-genders) medical care.
@Mott-The-Hoople saidErm, Islam permitted women to vote during the time of Mohammed, which is a long time before women in the West were allowed to vote.

Go forth and educate yourself.
@moonbus saidNot to naysay you, but the Emperor is No. 5, in E-flat Major, op. 73, the last of the piano concertos, and thus more "Beethoven" than the first two. It is a tremendous work, with themes of the "hero" and a monumental magnificence unseen in all the rest. (Of course, I am partial to Brendel's 1976 recording.) This is my favorite too, but I'm partial also to Nos. 3 and 4 as well. No. 3 is the most unique of all the concertos, and I love the lyrical beauty of No. 4.

Did they have some kind of Democracy under Muhammed? Did they vote for whatever caliph or potentate was running for office?
Get real.
@Suzianne saidDo you believe everything someone says here? Was Muhammed voted into office as The Prophet? Was there some kind of democratic process for choosing the latest grand vizier or whatever? Women had no rights at all, let alone the right to vote. Nobody voted for who was in charge.

Jebus.
@Cliff-Mashburn saidWhy do you post about things that merely highlight your lack on knowledge on the topic?

It's most peculiar.
@Suzianne said5. I stand corrected. 😉

Musta confused it with Rachmaninov's 2d. Richter .... another favorite.
