It never ceases to amaze me how many people who think of themselves as Christians have not understood the most basic principles of what Jesus taught: love everyone, especially the outcasts (then: whores and lepers; today: whores and queers), regardless how they behave, including your tormentors and detractors; it is not your place to judge anyone, much less punish anyone for ...[text shortened]... remove the log from his own eye, not complain about the sliver in someone else's.

End of sermon.
Bingo. One problem is that many of these people think they somehow have God's approval to act on his behalf.

Jesus had a clue for these people. "I never knew you."

We should be doing God's will, not he, ours.

In olden times, it was something one did.
This post is absolute nonsense.

First, this word people call 'love' as used by Christ in the bible is 'brotherly love' or charitable love, which means to do charitable work for ALL PEOPLE. It makes no difference whether or not they are good or evil. Jesus gave the example of 'love your neighbour', with the brotherly love of the Good Samaritan story. The man the Samaritan helped should not be judged in that instance when he is in need of help. The follower of Christ must help all people. There is NOTHING in the teachings of Christ that could be interpreted to mean sin is ok. It is not ok at all and Jesus told all the people he came into contact with to GO AND SIN NO MORE. The adulterer he saved from stoning was told GO AND SIN NO MORE.

Try to stop with the nonsense that it is ok to sin., or ok to be a homosexual.

Next if there is no word for homosexual, WTF does that mean? It means nothing. Homosexuality is a sin and there is nothing you can do to change that. It is described in the bible as different words. It does not have to be called homosexuality. Followers or believers in Christ are called to watch and be wary of who they associate with, and those who live in sin must be told or admonished and avoided if necessary. These teachings are clear, and you know that. You have been on this forum long enough and you know Christianity long enough. I thought you were a smarter poster.

Making stupid excuses for sin is dumb beyond belief. It is better if you are honest and say, I am an sinner and I cannot help it. That would go down better with God, rather than making the dumbest of statements to excuse sin.

Said the man who thinks Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross only for him.

EVERY MUSLIM thinks that....what exactly is your point?
Correct me if I am wrong, but that dude does not APPEAR to be Muslim. Maybe he is a plant, eager to Muslimate the entire planet in secret, right?

Besides the 10 commandments that specify what we may not do, the Catholic church specified what are sins
and what type - venial, mortal. It is spelled out everywhere.

The Catholic Church used much of the Old Testament to gather their commandments. Personally I do not think of this church as any authority for the rest of Christianity to follow. I rather take what Jesus and the Apostles preached can gather the commandments from there. To be honest I have no idea was 'venal and mortal' means when it comes to sin. Im not a Catholic. I think Philokalia knows the Catholic faith well.

If you are interested in what sins are condemned by Christ and the Apostles we can talk.

Congratulations, you have defined the New Testament. πŸ™‚

Also, "venial sin" is a minor sin, and "mortal sin" is a major infraction.

It's like a 2 minute minor penalty in hockey versus a 5 minute major πŸ™‚

I thought so. The New Testatment does have unforgivable sin and its just blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. I suspect all others are forgiveable and it depends on your other qualities as a follower of Christ.

Probably nothing, with those big horse blinders on.
