@metal-brain saidNo I don’t like any of them but that particular puppet regime of the west was replaced by a far worse regime whose leader was a guest of the west for years before his triumphant quashing of civil liberties in Persia / Iran.
You like puppet regimes then. Even puppet regimes of the east?
I don’t like regimes that rape and murder children, unlike you, I don’t give a toss whose puppet they are.
@kevcvs57 saidBecause the Shah of Iran was a brutal dictator.
What was wrong with the head of a puppet regime of the west getting sanctuary in the west?
I guess you prefer the current little girl raping and murdering psychotic theocracy that’s running the show now.

The 1953 coup called Operation Ajax overthrew Iran's first and last democracy. To suggest the installation of the Shah into power as a puppet dictator was an improvement to democracy is an insult to people's intelligence.
@metal-brain saidThe whole CIA and MI6 involvement was to stop the nationalisation of oil
Because the Shah of Iran was a brutal dictator.

And the revolution against the shah, indeed, was not because he was a grand humanitarian.
@shavixmir saidYou mean reverse the nationalization of oil. The democratically elected Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh nationalized the oil. The UK and USA have no respect for democracy. They replaced Mohammad Mossadegh with a brutal dictator and Jimmy Carter's praise of the Shah's human rights record is said to have sparked the revolution that put Khomeini in power. The Iranians were hoping Carter would influence the Shah into being less brutal and Carter pretended there was not any problem at all. The Iranians were furious!

@averagejoe1 saidFox et al are just the top if your spear
FOX is all we have.
And figuring they got in trouble before, you best know they will keep their noses clean from now on.
Go FOX, what is the NEWS!!!??
Oh, and Breitbart.
Your democracy is constantly being subverted by mega wealthy individuals and corporations, here’s an example
“ Two billionaire Texas brothers whose fortunes derive from oil and gas fracking have pumped millions of dollars into rightwing media outfits that have promoted climate-crisis denialism and sent more big checks to back an array of evangelical projects and conservative Texas politicians.
The fracking billionaires Farris and Dan Wilks have each doled out millions of dollars through separate foundations over the last decade to a number of high-profile conservative and religious groups including the Heritage Foundation, Family Research Council and Focus on the Family.”

@shippingtest saidIf you’re from where you claim to be google is the least of your worries in terms of opinion manipulation and censorship.
GG can do something to democracy all of us know it
There are much bigger threats to democracy and the free flow of information than internet search engines. Carbon corporations to name but one massive threat.
@kevcvs57 saidWhat the heck is a carbon corporation? Did you just make that up?

@vivify saidSearch engines should be unbiased, if their are more liberal / dem searchers than right wing / Republican searchers then a non partisan algorithm based on popularity of searches and results would / should reflect that.
I agree. What I'm referring to is their making sure public tools used to gather information is objective, like search engines. Google as a company can support anyone they want but their search engines should always remain objective.
It’s not the job of Google to manipulate its search engine to create parity of views, it should reflect the popularity of views
@metal-brain saidLol ignorant of reality and a halfwit

“Thanks to their incredible wealth and largesse, the country as well as the [Republican] party are now feeling the effects of their aggressive brand of religiously-charged political activism,” said Darren Dochuk, a history professor at the University of Notre Dame and author of Anointed with Oil.
‘Death Star law’ to abortion: the new rightwing laws taking effect in Texas
Farris Wilks and his wife control the Thirteen Foundation, while Dan Wilks and his wife lead the Heavenly Fathers Foundation, both of which have been funded with proceeds from the 2011 sale of their majority stake in Frac Tech Services for $3.2bn.
Since they created their foundations, six- and seven-figure checks from the Wilks brothers have bolstered numerous pro-fossil fuel and evangelical projects.
The Wilks brothers, for instance, have poured millions of dollars into PragerU and the Daily Wire, two rightwing media outlets that have promoted wide-ranging conservative agendas, including climate crisis denialism to school-age kids and adults via short videos, articles and other materials.”

Carbon corporations have been corrupting US democracy and pushing far right conspiracy theories for decades and not one complaint from you right wing types
@shippingtest saidAnyone anywhere using theses sites needs to be aware that they are brimming with opinion and in accuracies I just find it rob tickling funny that the ultra right want us to go into panic mode because there are info corporations that their carbon burning financiers cannot buy and control, thus allowing people access to reality, the truth or even an approximation of it is a threat to these people
@kevcvs57
Yes, i am from china but i can use gg as well...
GG&Baidu do something, that X/Facebook/Weibo/Tiktok can do more
@metal-brain saidI googled "a threat to democracy" and it showed me a picture of Trump.
Google can influence who you vote for.
