Before Trump, it would have been multiple decades of military experience, leadership credentials, and ability to conduct administrative activities.

Now, according to Hegseth you need to be on TV, have a Y chromosome, not have a beard, and exhibit complete fealty to the Fuhrer.

Interestingly, the right used to stand up for veterans in this country.

And then Trump says BS like "I don't get it, what was in it for them?' and "I like soldiers who weren't captured" and now the entire right treats veterans like crap only because Trump doesn't like them. It's embarrassing and disgusting.
