So, we need to buy them a plane ticket back home. They were probably in the wrong place, where they shouldn't have been, maybe sheltering illegal aliens, etc.
But tell them we are sorry, but, that it was worth it. And, thell them to 'stay off the street' from now on. I never go 'on the street' and will never be in the wrong place at the wrong time. You fellers?

Sounds like 70 new lawsuits for this administration to settle.

@AThousandYoung
Right? 70 citizens rounded up and deported by mistake? That's nuts.

Thank goodness Stephen Miller didn't suggest incineration would be more cost-effective.

"Probably" is an insufficient reason. There should have been a warrant in writing for each case.

No comments about the human cost, the reputational cost to our nation, or the carbon footprint?

Papa Trump always takes good care of people who do what they are told.*
Have you ever read Ray Bradbury's story "The Pedestrian"?

Be careful. AJ will eject you from the conservative bubble for using the phrase "Right?"

He'll start calling you Suzianne any time now.

Somehow the Biden administration managed to deport more than 271,000 unauthorized immigrants in fiscal year 2024 without including any US citizens. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/deportations-by-ice-10-year-high-in-2024-surpassing-trump-era-peak/

Trump and ICE still have two months to go to meet Stephen Miller's quota.

Which reminds me that there is a documentation gap in the genealogical record on my late Dad's side (originally from French Canada, and even though they were Catholic!) -- and then of course there's the border crossing that must have occurred -- so if I happen to disappear, I'll try to catch up later as soon as I can!

TBH, I think I'm more likely to get "disappeared" by writing the wrong thing at the wrong time on some jackass politician's FB page (I don't do Twitter/X), and they wouldn't even need to go so far -- just a little bit of personal economic or legal bullying of some sort would probably be enough to silence me, put me in my place, show me what's what, and who really rules our worlds (at the moment).

(Maybe I should also add Cory Doctorow's "Little Brother" to one of my reading stacks?)

They were actually deported between 2016 & 2020 and have more to do with issues pertaining to record keeping, I think, than some nefarious motivation.

Accidentally removed 70 people wrongly???

Where are the checks and balances before you start deporting people?

It is not likely that such a program, (which starts on streets that I would not get near even if I were a cop), can be executed perfectly. Not likely that ICE can identify each subject exactly.
Suggest how it could otherwise be done.....if you think it should be done, of course..
IF you think that we should Not send people who are illegally here back to their countries, please make this an interesting discussion. I have not yet heard one of you make that case.
Meanswhile, I will be warching Mamdani walk back all of his promises to Defund the Police. Now, he says, no, let's not defund the police. Next, he will say, 'well, maybe I cannot do the city owned grocery stores or the cheap housing or the free buses'. Pitiful. Y'all sure can pick 'em. Do you not find the way that he places his ring-adorned hand over his heart a bit nauseous?

Well, you arrest someone, file charges and have a court look at the merits of your case.

Uh, sounds pretty self-evident to me.

That is a logical way to convict and get rid of an illegal alilen. The problem comes when there are about 12 tk 20 million of them in our midst, most with without y'all call 'papers' over there. We have quite a melting pot, with browns, blacks, no papers, hoodies, packing, non-lingual, vagrants,....a lot of problems.

So, just the numbers, notwithstanding these pesky things, make it impossible to just 'arrest and file charges'. YOu sound like the Bot, Marauder.

And i do not feel sorry for any person inadvertently caught up in the roundups, as they should not be ha hanging with criminals. I predict that no one that I know will ever be 'accidentally' arrested and sent out of the country. Jesus, Shav.
Do you think you run a chance of being inadvertently arrested? how, pray tell?

This is old news.....From the the article..."May have" deported up to 70 "potential" citizens between 2015 and 2020......., "claims" a watchdog group.
Sheesh......don't know what, if anything has happened.

Where did you get this link Joe?

The numbers are for the whole period of Trump's last presidency. 2016-2020.

Things have gotten worse since then, I imagine.
