Climate change: World's hottest day since records began

The world's average temperature reached a new high on Monday 3 July, topping 17 degrees Celsius for the first time.

Scientists say the reading was the highest in any instrumental record dating back to the end of the 19th century.

The high heat is due to a combination of the El Niño weather event and ongoing emissions of carbon dioxide.

Tuesday was world’s hottest day on record – breaking Monday’s record
Average global temperature hits 17.18C and experts expect record to be broken again very soon

Monday the record for hottest average global temperature ever recorded was set...only to have that record broken the very next day on July 4th.

Humans are dooming themselves because of corporate greed.

Humans are not causing global warming. This warming trend is natural. We just came out of the mini ice age, so of course the planet is warming. The planet got colder because of the 536 volcanic winter and that led to the little ice age.

You were duped by propaganda so you accept a carbon tax that will make you poorer. They want to scare you into giving your money to government and they will not even promise to use that money to fight the climate change that is really natural. They can use it to pay for endless wars instead.

You were bamboozled. They scared you into wanting to give government your money. That is the whole point of this propaganda. To get you to want them to take your money away from you. Would you support that without being scared into it?

Global warming is real, but it is not man made. What is man made is the lie of man made global warming. Now you want government to expropriate your money. See how well it worked?

Still don't support a private jet tax first? Bill Gates thinks you are stupid and he is right. He is flying all over the world emitting more CO2 than dozens of people and he will keep doing that while you are paying a carbon tax to make him more powerful. That is what you support.

That’s it Ivan keep them Russian oilfields pumping it’s not as if you’ve got much else.

Yet 97% of scientists, who are experts on the matter, disagree with you.

How is it all possible?!?!?

What is the temperature, what should it be if man never existed?

If a tree falls in a forest and there’s no one there to hear it etc
It’s man made climate change get over it

You do know the climate has always changed, you are aware of that fact, there's no argument that the climate always changes.

Please record your understanding and agreeance of this point.

Doesn't change the fact that man-made climate change exists and has already lead to serious problems for humans that will only get worse. Especially if we don't move away from fossil fuels soon.

You've got some facts have you? How much warmer is it? What would the temp be if man never existed?

Yes it has always changed but we are talking more like over geological time not the blink of an eye since the Industrial Revolution.
Do you think it’s a coincidence that we have been pumping greenhouse gases into the atmosphere at the same time as the planet has been turning into a greenhouse.
Man made climate change deniers are not freedom loving heroes they are fiddling Neros.
Even if you’re right ( you’re not right ) carbon fuels are finite and the more energy options we have in the future the better.

This chart shows a gradual increase in earth's average global temperature since the 1800s. Note how the rise corresponds perfectly with increased human industrial activity.

Finite can still be a big number, through improvements in exploration technology known reserves have doubled in the last 40 years. What this means kev bamboozle is that we're not going to run out anytime soon.

So you should avoid the catastrophic running out of fossil fuel red herring. Some friendly advice to save you future embarrassment.

There's nothing perfect about it, you always get carried away with your own hyperbole.

So it's been rising. What would it have done if man had never existed. Tell us what the temp would be if not for man, and please don't say there'd be no change.

You're claiming man is responsible for the change, that there would be there be no change if not for man. You're going in circles.

If the temp has gone up 1 degree, how much of that 1 degree is man responsible for?

Ha no they are finite 💩 for brains, a resource that took billions of years to produce has had a massive chunk out of its reserves in 200 years, that’s the definition of finite.
Green energy options are also progressing at a pace and any dollars we drag kicking and screaming away from planet killing carbon options and toward planet friendly infinitely available options will advance them at an even greater pace whilst corporate loving clowns like you are dredging out the ocean floors looking for the last carbon hit 🙄
