Seattle City Council Member Suggests Firing White Officers in Massive Reduction of Police Department
The Seattle City Council is facing something of a dilemma in its popular pledge to cut the police budget by 50 percent. To do so would require firing a significant number of police officers, which is also popular. The problem is that the firing would be done by seniority and many of the less senior officers are black. The solution according to City Council member Lisa Herbold is simple: fire officers based on their race. While that would be the definition of racial discrimination, Herbold clearly believes that it is discrimination for a good cause.
"discrimination for a good cause?"
I say, isn't that the same thing that Democrats said back when
they invented "Jim Crow" and "Separate but Equal"?
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

California faculty union demands free tuition for black students, removal of armed campus cops
The California Faculty Association, a union for faculty in the California State University system, is calling for free tuition for black and indigenous students, a mandatory ethnic studies course, and for the defunding and removal of armed campus police, among other demands.
Democrats are discriminating by skin color, there is no denying it. And they are proud to do it.

Looks like racist right wing good ol boys ain’t getting it all their own way anymore .
Meanwhile back in reality shrieking racism at the top of your shrill right wing voices because some one or other suggests something or other that looks like it might advantage ethnic minorities for a change is text book divisionism and the classic dog whistle racism of the far right.
It’s a bit like like trumps recent dog whistle regarding the building of low income housing in the suburbs. It’s only a problem if your a racist, I think the problem is some Americans have embraced racism for so long that they don’t even recognise it. Rather they see any move to combat racism as racism.

Ever heard of Affirmative Action?
Race Norming on entrance/employment tests?
Giving advantages to minorities is not something recent.

@Earl-of-Trumps
In keeping with the proud tradition of right wing propaganda you're cherry picking only part of the story you want people to know about. The real story is the city council member suggested this only as as part of a plan to make the police dept. more racially diverse, and it was never adopted by the full counsel, and will never become policy. Ideas are constantly brought up in city council meetings nationwide, and most never go anywhere. So, please stop cherry picking facts and tell the whole story.
I live in Seattle, and things are running a lot better here than you and your stable geniuses on the right wing (99% of whom have never been here) would have people believe. Seattle has become the poster child of hatred for the right wing. Seattleites are more gay and minority friendly than most. Our Universities and tech sector fosters a nerdish, coffee drinking, book reading, Liberal, educated population - and we like it that way. So, hate us all you want, but we're not going to change!
🙂
@sleepyguy saidBut it’s not racism if it’s an attempt to level up after years of racism.
To combat racism with racism is racism.
It’s a perfectly open systemic policy to be agreed upon by whites and ethnic minorities in order to address an issue arising from historical racism that was only agreed upon by whites. If you cannot see the difference then I don’t know what to tell you.
Do you think whites can be racist against whites or is it racist whites claiming it’s racism rather than just a policy they don’t agree with.
Nobody seems to disagree with the veteran programmes that increase their job and educational prospects over non veterans.
@sleepyguy saidI was referring to positive discrimination in general in regard to education and hiring policy. I’m a life long union member I don’t agree with any individual losing their livelihood to facilitate a more diverse workforce of any kind.
Yes it is.
Does an individual deserve to lose a job because of his/her skin color?
The example your citing has not happened and I’m pretty sure it won’t, but if it does their union should sue the employers rear end off.
