I think King Faisal's weaponizing of Oil, stopping Saudi oil production in the aftermath of the '73 Arab-Israeli war and then in concert with OPEC jacking up the oil price and the attendant oil-shock/world oil crises may have had much more to do with it...

Many reasons.
Friends with the US, for one.
Although they supported the Moslim Brotherhood (both anti-communist), Iran’s support for Hamas is probably “a thing” for them.

There’s a sentiment in many Arab States that if they take in Palestinian refugees, they’re actually helping Israel to achieve her goals.
