Republicans are behind Trump so long as he keeps pushing a conservative agenda. Banning bump stocks is more in line with Dems, which SCOTUS rejected.
As long as Trump continues being a right-wing pawn, SCOTUS is behind him all the way.

My point is that Trump doesn't actually have the influence over his party that most people think. As soon as he goes even a little bit off script (like with bump stocks) Republicans reject him.

Fully automatic weapons are over rated anyway. Aiming and shooting in semi automatic mode is usually better. You know what you are shooting at. Otherwise you are just hoping your bullets hit a bunch of enemy soldiers in that direction.

Bump stocks can turn semi-automatic guns into automatics. SCOTUS overturned Trump's ban on them.
This proves that Trump has no actual power. The one time Trump does something good that conservatives reject, his own appointees turn on him.
He has no ability to enact laws that Republicans don't like. He has a lot of influence to bully people and even end conservative ...[text shortened]... Trump. Their power only lies in their ability to keep feeding right-wingers what they want to hear.
