Your idea is: Solution to sick people shooting guns is to have more guns.

My idea is: Sick people would not shoot if they would not have guns.

Simple enough or should I draw a chart?

Sick people will get guns whether they're legal or not.

Then it's not very bright to make it easier for them, is it?

So, where is pritybeta now that we discovered she gets her info about Martin Luther Kind Jr. from a white supremacist forum called www.stormfront.org?

Come on, Sister Adolf-47! Get out from your cave and join us again! lol

That depends. If it makes it ever so slightly easier for them, and especially if they need to provide information and go through a background check, and it makes it much, much easier for law abiding citizens to get them, then it is very bright indeed to make it easier for them.

But wait, wait... why is this "law abiding citizens" such a manthra?

"Law abiding citizens" can go nuts or lose it or get nervous or depressed or angry and use their gun to blow people's heads.

Is it a scientific, flawless and 100% bullet proof (sorry for the pun) method to check police records and fill up some questionnaires?

It is not, dude, you know that bureaucracy fails, and it does it a lot... so I would not put my safety in the hands of a lonely, divorced, bitter and tired 50+ bureaucrat. I'd rather have less criminals in the streets, and less criminals are achieved in a society that gives everybody the opportunity to fulfill (a) basic needs, and (b) life goals.

Moreover, a united family built around the values of honesty and respect, plus a good education and the possibility to make a decent living with an honest job, minimize nutcases much more than a semiautomatic rifle in the hands of John Doe.

I may be reaming here, of course, but it is easier to control gun ownership than to control a landscape just like the wild wild west. The survival of the biggest gun.

Man, that's not the dream our parents and grandparents fought for.

You're being inconsistent here.

Do you know how often some random guy goes nuts vs how often illegal firearms are used in crime?

Is it a scientific, flawless and 100% bullet proof (sorry for the pun) method to check police records and fill up some questionnaires?

You want to tap into government bureaucracy in order to send gunmen to disarm the populace, Seitse!

less criminals are achieved in a society that gives everybody the opportunity to fulfill (a) basic needs, and (b) life goals.

A Utopia you cannot provide in reality. Less criminals are also achieved in a society where Puff the Magic Dragon blows his hippie smoke breath to calm down the populace. So what?

Moreover, a united family built around the values of honesty and respect, plus a good education and the possibility to make a decent living with an honest job, minimize nutcases much more than a semiautomatic rifle in the hands of John Doe.

And you, of course, are able to transform violent people with no respect for the law or others' life into that, right?

I may be reaming here, of course, but it is easier to control gun ownership than to control a landscape just like the wild wild west. The survival of the biggest gun.

First - you're far too interested in controlling large groups of people. That's disturbing. Second the biggest gun always wins. The difference is that under gun control the honest citizen is at the bottom of that food chain, under the criminals who themselves are weaker than the government.

My home was threatened by men with firebombs during the Rodney King riots. The police did not stop the rioters from burning down my building. Residents with rifles did. The rioters did not need guns to kill and destroy, but the residents needed guns to keep themselves safe.

Man, that's not the dream our parents and grandparents fought for.

Anyone who died for the USA since it was added to the Constitution died defending the Second Amendment. I don't know who or what your family members died for.

EDIT - Maybe I shouldn't have used the Puff the Magic Dragon imagery...

Hey, wait a second, it is very different a bureaucrat than a professionaly trained cop, who must go through a training and under the scrutiny of scientists (doctors, shrinks, etc.).

Regarding what happened to you (or what was about to happen to you), I am sorry to hear that, but it is a result of a very tense society built on discrimination... why was it so important to judge a group of cops that kicked the crap out of a black man? Because the people feel they live in a racist society.

Don't get me wrong, there is no magic solution (we already debated about this), but the premise is very simple: Few guns, less bullets shot against innocent people. That is pure marth and you cannot deny it.

Also, I cannot deny reality and think that puff the magic dragon will save us all in a second, because humans fail and homo homini lupus, you know. So people have to defende themselves since the authorities fail to do so... so why not instead of giving guns away to everybody, we work on making the authorities better so they defend people as they should?

P.S. My ancestors died for a better life... and a better life is not the wild wild west. Or is it?

The police are not independent of the government. They are run by bureaucracies (damn that word is hard to spell), both inside and outside of the department!

I am amazed how trusting you are of police considering what you've said about corruption where you're from.

Here, take a look at this - the gangs infiltrated the anti-gang police unit in my neighborhood and used to to oppress the people!

The US is NOT based on discrimination! That is such nonsense. Yes, some people BELIEVE it is, but it's not. This is where Black people in Los Angeles are seeing discrimination come from:

I don't know anything about your ancestors so I can't answer your questions.

Did you know, that the footage of American tanks firing into the buildings in Waco isn't on youtube. You'd think that it'd be there.
Excuse me, but the Second Amendment did not get those women and children slaughtered, it was the Government not following the law that did.

I am not of the KKK, and I was googling MLK to findout more on him, and that site, and others came up. That site was the one that had more of the proof together on the one page, that is why I used it.

Explaining why crime is higher in areas with gun bans is easy. People get guns fairly easy in the other areas and seek the easiest spot to commit crimes, place ...[text shortened]... nly be exporting the problem to the next gun free zone, but it hardly lowers crime in general.
That is my point, we do not need ANY gun free zones!!!!!!!!

I do have a life outside of this forum. And like I said before, my husband has the computer when he is home, and I check it while I am doing hose work while he is at work. He also works odd hr. and comes home early or late depending on if he is needed where he works.

Some of the people in Florida though that letting their citizens carry would cause it to be like the wild wild west too. However, they found out that their crime rate accually droped when they made it legal to carry. 😉

My husband and I are trained in guns more than most of the police officers in our town. Did you know that the average officer only trains once or twice a year, where as those who have a CCW(or similer) trains almost every week? We were told this by an ex-police officer, now SWAT/CCW trainer, so we did some resurch on it and he was right. Police officers also usually almost never have to use their guns on duity and most go their whole career not needing them.
