Do you guys think that because some teachers have guns, that somehow this would be a deterrent to someone intent on shooting up the school?

Do you actually think the fact that they know the police will show up and shoot them anyway, that somehow they WON"T shoot the school up just because a teacher has a gun too?

Guess what, the FIRST person these guys are going to shoot will be the TEACHERS!!!

Am I the only sane person left in here?

And while he's shooting at the teacher, the teacher will be shooting at him, and no one will be shooting at the kids. It may not deter the wacko from the crime, but it may deter him killing a few innocent kids.

Ah, I see. So now Teachers are the sacrificial lambs.

"No no, dont' shoot my kid! Here, shoot at this teacher! Ya, and to make sure you shoot someone, ANYONE, other than my kid, we're making teachers a threat to you by giving them a gun in order to make it less likely you'll shoot my kid."

Just a thought. Wouldn't it make more sense just to hire a police officer to be in the school during school hours? Oh but that costs money and might raise taxes....grrr, can't do that now can we!!

So you'd rather the wacko got to shoot at the kids and teachers unimpeded?

How does a teacher become a threat by carrying a gun?

Wouldn't it make more sense just to hire a police officer to be in the school during school hours?

Would the officer have a gun? If so, by your logic the officer is a threat.

Gun Free Zones = The Killing Fields of America

so, pritybeta, how's the friends at www.stormfront.org doing these day,s uh?

I've heard they also believe the demonstrated lie that gun free zones have more crime rates.

No matter how many times you repeat a lie, it won't become true. Seriously.

Seitse, and Treetalk, you two really need to open your eyes. Most if not all the shootings are in gun free zones.

Seitse, I know you are not here in America and can not understand what is going on, so I would suggest you do some research and find out what exactly I am saying. You only see shootings in Highschools, Colleges, Gun Free Malls, Churches, Campaign Headquarters etc., which are all GUN FREE zones. You never hear of shootings at gun shows, police offices, The NRA, or GOA, etc., which are not gun free zones. So what about that is a lie?

Treetalk, I am not sure if you are in America or not, but if you are you should know that the gun free zones are shooting zones for the criminals and the citizens are banned the right to protect themselves.

I lived in "America", sister. Actually, I was born and raised in North America (which, if you didn't know, compromises Canada, the U.S. and Mexico).

And trust me, the world is NOT the U.S. Other parts of the world which are almost gun free zones, are NOT killing fields. Perhaps the shootings it is a feature of crazy, gun-loving, paranoid America?

I suggest you research and see that beyond Ellis Island there is a world. You know... out there?

Ditto to what Seitse said.

No, I am not in America.

I find it incomprehensible to suggest that the answer to gun violence is ... to get more guns out there.

It has been said repeatedly but needs to obviously be said many more times - look at other western countries. Do they have have comparable rates of gun violence? No? Why not?

Assume every American magically started carrying guns tomorrow. Do you really believe gun violence would drop?

As for the pithy phrase 'gun free zone' - about as ludicrous as the colour coded terrorist alerts.

Oh really? So in the school shootings that happened, police officers were present in the school and the police officer(s) was the one shot first? Do you have more than one officer per school or do you have dozens? How many officers do you think it would take to make a school safer?

Isn't this really about NOT having to pay for more police officers by just arming the people that are already in the school? If you arm the teachers, then you don't have to pay for multiple police officers.

1. No, hire MORE officers

2. Basic threat analysis by the opponent. If someone is shooting at you, they are a threat...isn't that obvious?

3. Yes, the officers would be a threat. And be much better trained to deal with other people shooting at them, unlike teachers who likely never had this kind of experience. Plus they will have more than a minimum amount of shooting/accuracy experience. Would you rather have a trained police officer or a teacher shooting at a suspect?

I think you know what I meant about America. Hello?!?! United States of America?!?!

Almost gun free zones? lol, yah, exactly, almost, that means only the criminals have the guns.😉 So you mean there are no other types of crimes going on in the rest of the world? Gun crimes are not the only type of crime that can kill or harm. And most of the rest of the world are slaves to their own countries, and that is one thing us U.S. Americans, the true ones, will not have.

BTW, There are other parts of the world that people do use guns almost every day, like Afghanistan, and Iraq, this was also before the 'so called' war on terror.

First off, I am not meaning only 'gun violence'. And if the criminals are the only ones who are armed, then they have free leeway to do what ever they want to the citizens. However, if the citizens are armed too, it gives them a means of defence.

Those countries also have their citizens as slaves and at the mercy of the government, and most are not even happy with that. Europeans are also starting to think they should have never gave up their guns. The crime in their country is getting higher than before the gun bans.

I don't think 'every American' should have guns, there are many who are unfit to(mentally). However, if law abiding citizens who are fit carried then YES, I do think gun violence would drop.

Think what you want about the phrase, you do not live here and do not see what I do.
