Alright, I've got a few suggestions. Let's see if anyone has a preference for any of these:

The Pearl - John Steinbeck
Mrs. Dalloway - Virginia Woolf
The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde
Candide - Voltaire

or in honor of Arthur Miller's death:

The Crucible

I've read Dorian Gray. My vote goes to Voltaire, I've been meaning to read him for a while now, seems like a good time.

'Cool and the gang' Is just a silly way of saying 'okay' 🙂

Is anybody else participating in this book club, or not?

I have read all but Wolfe, so I would vote for that one, but your choice.

Rob, I'll PM all those on the list and get them to chip in with whether they're still interested.

I've got the Picture of Dorian Gray but not read it so I vote for that.
Also, I dislike Steinbeck.
Another suggestion: Utopia, Thomas More? Or Will Self, How the Dead Live?

Hey, I'll read Voltaire's Candide. I haven't read it since my freshman year of college, but I just bought the book again for my little library. It's short and funny, and would make it easy for people to get on board.

Candide - 2
Mrs. Dalloway - 1
The Picture of Dorian Gray - 1

Okay, knowing nothing about the suggestions already made, I'll throw in one of my own. One of my favourite contemporary authors is a chap called Iain Banks. I would put forward either The Wasp Factory or The Bridge as my choices.

I own, but have not read, The Pearl, so that's the preferable choice.

I read, a long time ago, The Picture of Dorian Gray, so a refresher
would be nice. The same with The Crucible.

I'd like to vote for all three, if I can.

Alright, I have made my choice. The second book shall be Candide, by Voltaire. It's a manageable book that should be readily available. Report back in two weeks. Then we shall pass the baton to someone else to pick a new book after that.

I just hope we get more that two people to participate this time around.
