Originally posted by rwingettHey, I'll read Voltaire's Candide. I haven't read it since my freshman year of college, but I just bought the book again for my little library. It's short and funny, and would make it easy for people to get on board.
Alright, I've got a few suggestions. Let's see if anyone has a preference for any of these:
The Pearl - John Steinbeck
Mrs. Dalloway - Virginia Woolf
The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde
Candide - Voltaire
or in honor of Arthur Miller's death:
The Crucible
Originally posted by rwingettI own, but have not read, The Pearl, so that's the preferable choice.

I read, a long time ago, The Picture of Dorian Gray, so a refresher
would be nice. The same with The Crucible.
I'd like to vote for all three, if I can.

Alright, I have made my choice. The second book shall be Candide, by Voltaire. It's a manageable book that should be readily available. Report back in two weeks. Then we shall pass the baton to someone else to pick a new book after that.
I just hope we get more that two people to participate this time around.
