I sometimes get the feeling that if a report doesn’t give the answer people want to hear, then suddely it’s not a good report.
What if there is no instituational racism? I.e. the cases of racism are not imbedded systemic, but are more random in nature?
The laws are all anti-racism.
Most companies and layers of government have anti-racist regulations and inbedded methods of dealing with workplace discrimination.
Etc.
And then you get the whole inherent bias argument... and all white people are privileged and all white people are racist and everyone must face up to this... activism.
Do note that you can exchange white in that sentence for Asian, Black, Jew, etc.
Or in other words, a certain group of people want everyone and everything to aknowlege their truth.
I find it all highly dubious.
And no, just because I don’t discard the report (and others like it) and just because I find this inherent systemic racism malarkey over the top, does not make me a racist.
Is there racism in society? Absolutely.
Are there people with racist bias attitudes they are not aware of? Certainly.
Does this automatically mean racism is systemic or institutionalised? Nope. Not in the least.
