I don’t think it’s even age related, it’s the same as Biden, or any other President saying he or she wants to ‘bring our boys home’ when referring to pulling US troops out of a combat zone.

It is you that does not comprehend the use of the word boy in this context duchess. Oxbridge English is of very little use in this conversation. It’s clear to me and most people without an axe to grind that Biden’s use of the word boy was meant in that collective non derogatory sense. He was saying to the Japanese listener one of your ‘boys’ did really well by winning the masters.
