Being completely off-topic. Priceless.

Isn't forcing someone to either move away or breath your smoke fair? Isn't it downright antisocial to breath smoke around someone who can't stand the smell? If someone sat next to you and masturbated then would you say "good on you, it's your right"?
Depends if they were asking you to hold their cigarette as well while they were doing it.

i find this interesting.

where would you draw a line as to what is acceptable?
I think people need to realise that they have responsibilities as well as rights. If what you're doing disgusts or upsets someone, or makes them feel uncomfortable, then you should be sensitive to that.
I think the line is very hazy (lol) when it comes to smoking, and smokers should, if in doubt, ask whether it's ok for them to smoke in others' presence. The same goes for jerking off, but I predict that the answer would generally be a no.

There is a time and place. I was in Amsterdam last weekend trying to eat some dinner with about 15 people smoking all around me and it was just totally discusting. There was no non smoking area, and the people were blowing the smoke in our direction to take it away from their own table. Its nothing to do with the second hand smoke thing, its the simple fact that its nasty and putting me off my food.
Well stay away.

It seems that all of your problems with smoking can be resolved by simple moving away from the smoke.

its quite hard to do that when you have ordered you food and someone sits next to you and starts chain smoking. Even worse are the people who wait till every one else on their table has finished eating and then lights up even though people are eating on the other tables all around them. They obviously know its unpleasant for the people on their own table or they would have not waited in the first place.

You would not like it if I sat next to you and farted continually while you are your dinner

Why should non smokers be the one's to alter the way they live and work just because of smokers? All they are trying to do is breathe clean air. That’s not hurting anyone. If you want to choke your lungs with that cr@p, fine, just don't choke the people around you and move on.

Smokers lose their freedom the moment their habit affects others around them detrimentally. Simple.
First of all I'm not a smoker. However, I have come to believe that cigarettes are a much needed component to our world. To be sure they are addictive. They cause lung cancer and other forms of cancer. They cause heart disease. So how is this much needed?

We need a quicker turnover of people. Cigarettes help people die sooner thereby making more room on the planet for those who choose not to smoke. Every time I see a tobacco field I see that there is a farmer who has not sold his land for a strip mall or development. Everytime I see someone sick from smoking I see all the healthcare jobs that are created. Yes, it is sad, but I have talked to many many smokers and asked them if they knew that giving up smoking would make them well again would they stop and they invariably say they would still smoke. Who am I to deprive them of their friend?
