@no1marauder saidAnd, conversely, 'LEFT wingers have decided that these 3M citizens SHOULD have a say in he national government, purely because they (want) the vote the way that they wish".
But now right wingers have decided these 3 million US citizens should have no say in the national government purely because they fear they won't vote the way you wish.
I'd like to hear a cogent defense of that decision to deprive these citizens of such a basic right for such a frivolous reason.
Surely you are putting us on, to banter with such simplicity. One could reverse ALL of your dictums this way.
@no1marauder saidThis gets funnier. Yesterday you wrote, to me, that, as an example, people like Biden can change their positions as time goes on. You actually defeated me on that one, as I had said Trump never did, which, he did!!
Straight from the elephant's mouth:
"The Republican Party Platform statements on Puerto Rico:
2012:
“We support the right of Puerto Rico to be admitted to the Union as a fully sovereign state if they freely so determine. We recognize that Congress has the final authority to define the constitutionally valid options for Puerto Rico to achieve a permanent non-terr ...[text shortened]... s government."

But NOW, Marauder, you are pointing out Repub platforms, that, by your logic, should be allowed to be changed, as time goes on. You Can't eat the cake and save it at the same time ..............
@averagejoe1 saidYou could, IF you want to be a liar.

As I already pointed out, both the Democratic and Republican Party platforms for decades have supported the admission of PR as a State IF the People there supported the same. The Democrats have not changed their tune, but the Republicans have suddenly and given no neutral reason for that change.

Want to give it a go, Joe? Preferably without the racism that everyone in Puerto Rico is just looking for a "handout" that you already used.
@no1marauder saidOk. Wake me when lack of democracy prevents it. 😴
The point was the Republican national party supported it. Now it opposes it for fear how the People of PR would vote (maybe; the non-voting representative in the House is a Republican, so perhaps it's just out and out racism).
Prediction: The House will pass a statehood bill.
The Republicans will successfully filibuster it.
@earl-of-trumps saidThat will be when: the Republicans successfully filibuster it.
Ok. Wake me when lack of democracy prevents it. 😴
@no1marauder saidYou segue my point by interjecting what a reason is? You missed my point, 😔

@averagejoe1 saidWhat "point" is that?
You segue my point by interjecting what a reason is? You missed my point, 😔
@no1marauder saidYou say ‘ right wingers have decided that they should have no say‘. I simply totally deflated your statement, by interchanging what the liberals want, which is what you ssid, but in reverse.
What "point" is that?
So, Each statement makes the other statement irrelevant, my point being that you make statements such as you did, and leave them hanging in the air, without rounding it out like I had to do
So my statement canceled your statement out. My point was that your statement is somewhat meaningless when you see that the rightists can say the same exact thing about the leftists. And the funny thing is you jump in with some sort of a ‘reason’.

elected officials do what the people that elected them wish (theoretically)
I would like to know why you think it is imperative that anyone is granted statehood?
@averagejoe1 saidYou are correct...but I will add, he NEVER shows any facts, just left wing websites.

@averagejoe1 saidNo but it’s republicans who want to deny the people of PR a Democratic voice in government. The Democrats want them to have a Democratic voice in government.

So regardless of motivation on either side it’s once again the Republican Party that wants less democracy rather than more.
@mott-the-hoople saidWho looks at websites? I would rather read the thoughts of Sonhouse (🤔) than read all the linked stuff, .....they all do it, I guess Duchess leads the pack.
You are correct...but I will add, he NEVER shows any facts, just left wing websites.
I don’t remember in debates that people on the stage ever got into sending a link over to the guy sitting next to them!!! Libs are even bastardizing the debate world. Is nothing sacred?!?!!
@kevcvs57 saidyou have the cart ahead of the horse. The issue is about whether PR all of a sudden is supposed to be a state. Funny that that is coinciding with the exact time that the Democrats took office. I sure wonder what that’s about🤔🤔
No but it’s republicans who want to deny the people of PR a Democratic voice in government. The Democrats want them to have a Democratic voice in government.

The Democrats are willy-nilly just saying that Puerto Rico should have a voice in the government. But they don’t say why. Next they will say that PR has rights. Bernie used to say that everyone has a right to medical care, and a right to college tuition. Democrats have no idea what the word right means
@kevcvs57 saidTo ‘deny’ Something from someone is to say that they have a right to it in the first place. To that I say, ‘not so fast’.
