The post that was quoted here has been removedAs I pointed out in another post: Preti Patel (one of the government’s ministers) actually put forward the idea of using the royal navy to pick up these vessels and dump them in French ports.
Until the whole world pointed out to her, that when the UK leaves the EU... her royal navy sailing into EU ports isn’t a very acceptable thing to do...
And that is the level of competence the UK government is oozing.
@biffo-konker saidIt’s complete and utter madness.
Another deadline passed.
Boris is ready to 'walk the extra mile' but the SUN front page states that Merkel is insisting that he has to do it 'crawling over broken glass'
The UK doesn’t want EU fishermen fishing in their waters, but does want preferential treatment of UK fishermen selling their fish on the EU market (80% of fish caught by the UK is sold in Europe).
The UK wants access to the EU market like it does now, but does want the option to undermine the market how they see fit.
I don’t know what they’re all still talking about. End the talks end of.
I can understand the EU not wanting to deliberatly trash the UK ecomomy. But it was their choice to leave. If they stick to these points to such an extent as they are, their choice. Cut them free. They voted for it! It’s what they want.
I predicted years ago that nothing would change, that there would be deals in place and that basically the only thing that would be different is the UK not having anymore say in EU politics.
And although that is the only outcome of this whole situation, it looks seriously looks like the UK governement are going to squeeze the British people through a whole lot of poverty and stupidity before they accept that if they want access to the market, they’re going to have to play by the market’s rules.
I really feel sorry for the British. Especially my friends and family over there.
@shavixmir saidThe great British public has begun to do what it always does in times of potential national crisis, it's buying toilet rolls. They're flying off the shelves, so whatever may befall this once great nation, whether there's a deal or not, and whether we go to war with the French over les cod, the Brits will be able to s..t themselves with impunity.

I don’t get the drive for toiletpaper.
What’s with the planet?
Yeah. Toiletpaper is handy... but one could settle for a shower...
@shavixmir saidAs a soft core socialist I’m looking forward to all the taxes the government is going to collect from EU imports I just hope that they redistribute it to those who actually need it.
It’s complete and utter madness.

As for the fish, well, I genuinely could not give a toss and for everything else it’s a big assumption that the EIU is always going to have left leaning liberal governance. So deal or no deal it’s a gamble like everything else in life.
Well. A deadline has been set.
Another?
Oh yes! The brexit has had more deadlines than the chart mapping average republican intelligence.
Oh, see what I done there?
Well. It looks like there’s going to be a deal.
And it looks like they’re saying there’s going to be a deal and there’s not going to be a deal.
So, that’s all as reassuring as republicans telling us Corona would be over by Summer.
Oh well. Just as well the tories are in charge of this whole process. With their combined intelligence and competence, there’s absolutely nothing they can achieve.
See what I did there? See?
-Removed-Well that’s good to here dive. There is very little point hating reality, and Brexit, unlike covid, was never a threat to my actual existence.
I’ve always been argumentatively optimistic mate and all my siblings are Brexiteers so what am I gonna do.
I just hope deal or no deal that it’s the end of the sniping and bitching on both sides of the channel.
