... on the RHP debates forum at present and why ?
My second favorites are those in which ivanhoe tries to calm people down by urging them to not issue personal attacks or use vulgar language.
My third favorites are RBHILL's Bible Studies. It's tough to argue with a longstanding tradition of a weekly mix of education, amusement, and spiritual contemplation.
My fourth favorites are those in which I get to go head to head with serious debators who know how to form complete sentences, even sequences of coherent paragraphs, with the goal of having a serious discussion in which sound arguments are formulated and picked apart. My particular favorites in this category are those in which my arguments prove superior to bbarr's, and those in which my conclusions that I have soundly defended strike disgust and repulsion into the hearts and minds of observers who have no choice but to admit that I am right.
Which are your favorites, ivanhoe? I have a feeling that this thread is going to be among my favorites, don't you?

P.S. My least favorite is probably the Philosophy Quotes, because I simply don't know, "What is the debate?" Maybe ivanhoe can tell me.

Please name the threads/debates that you like at present.
Originally posted by ivanhoeI hear you there. Someone needs to start a debate that brings christians and non-christians together to see what they have in common, rather than what makes them different.
At the moment there is no debate that is interesting to me. Maybe I'm missing something. That's why I ask.

You see, you could do that just as well, and since it is your curiousity that would so be satisfied, I feel that you, not I, should expend the effort if you want to construct a list of thread titles based on my rules.

If you construct such a list and post it here, I will be glad to verify that each one you list does meet my criteria, and to point out any that you list in error.

Neither do I.
Politics: good. I've enjoyed my discussion of world poltiics here, especially the UK folks who can give me a viewpoint from the ground when my outlook on British Politics is limited to PMQ's each week and bbc.co.uk''s politcal page.
Politics of religion: don't care.
Oh I can go on forever about the political nature of religion and how it's primary purpose is political rather than moral, but seeing most of the debates forums being the religious folks here like RBHill having to defend their faith day in and day out gets a little old.
Honeslty I skip those, because there is rarely any intellectual debate behind them. That's not slamming the folks here - I find it quite rare anywhere in society to see actual intellectual debates about religion because both sides tend to use emotion as their guiding force instead of their mind.
I know there are a few religious clans here and I respect them. While there are times and places when an engagement on the subject is worthwhile, the religious debates here are way, way too frequent to constitute legitimate discourse.
Of course just my humble opinion, yours may vary 😉
