What a coincidence. I went to a small university named Pimperial College. Sometimes they had "Pimperial against Venereal" rallies.

Actually, maybe we should start a new thread on Babar Ahmad, the Imperial employee and former student being held on dubious terrorism charges.

Oops, you are in the midst of everything over there in London. Please don't get involved in serious major terrorist actions .... you know minor ones don't count, like for instance sabotaging Big Ben ..... 😀

What is the most surprising or interesting thing you discovered so far about London, England or the UK you didn't know before ?

Well, I've spent a couple weekends at my dad's flat in Norfolk, which is quite rural, and I noticed that the UK is probably home to as much regional diversity as the US is, which I didn't expect. I mean, there's probably as much difference between London and Norwich as there is between, say, New York and Portland, Maine (a small city in the middle of rural nowhere).

And Scribbles, that's enough Trouble out of you. I'm going to hit you with a pirpstick dipped in Marmite soon.

Are you finding yourself picking up the English accent here and there by mistake ?

When I went home at Christmas, my friends thought so. People here just say I sound less like a Yank. Thankfully very few people here have a 'standard' London accent, because I wouldn't want to pick it up.

I stopped paying attention to the content of this thread a while ago. I looked at your first post, which was not insulting, and ivanhoe's first response, which was not curt or insulting.

This post of ivanhoe's and those following it were insulting for no reason:

..... and I dare say Kirk that you dodge and flee from so many discussions because you are afraid of just that.

Sorry Kirksey! Sorry nemesio! By this point in the discussion ivanhoe did start being a jerk for no reason.

For me most threads could bring out points of interests, but the
issues that seem to ruin them for me is when people start pointing
out personal flaws in other posters. Leaving the thread to start
a personal slug fest. The threads *topics* if everyone stayed on
subject could be interesting, but they start falling apart when the
people in the threads become the subject instead of the subject
the thread was about.

I'm not even attempting to point out various posters that do this,
as I believe I too do it from time to time. I believe it is a human
trait not a religious, republican, democrat trait and so on least anyone
think I'm attempting to slip in an insult.

I also believe many of the posters here have been in topics that
were outstanding too. Some times simply mixing posters that have
had a history together causes them to fall into personal insults
much quicker than they would if someone they did not know said
the same thing. So that would be that they know how to push
each other's buttons* and they do it quite well.

As far as the topic goes, I like anything that looks at foundational
views.

I must concede I enjoyed this thread so much more when I was being called a coward. As I said I like threads which reveal the character of the poster.

..... for no reason ? I could write a book about that. I have gone into that in the past a few times. The history of RHP is connected with it.

My perspective is that in this thread, a lot of the negative feelings that are being expressed seem to come from nowhere. It seems that this is because people are bringing into this thread fights that began somewhere else. Why do that? I don't get it.

...... I'm not afraid of revealing my character. I'm not even afraid to reveal my negative sides and I have a few as you will probably know.

What hurts most is that you never supported me when I was defending the Sanctity of Life, the Right to Life for all, included the unborn, a notion so clearly laid out in the Bible.
The only reaction you gave was that this is a private thing. You are privately against it, but publicly it was OK. How comfortable, how uncontroversial. You claim to follow Christ. Do you think Christ would take your stance of convenience, Kirk ?

You once compared me with Pilate, one of your many conceiled insults, when I asked you very seriously and sincerely what "the truth" was you were talking about in a previous post. You referred to the situation when Pilate asked Jesus during his trial "What is truth", which is a totally different and philosophical question and you compared me with Pilate. I asked you who the hell do you think you thought you were if I was Pilate. Of course no answer. I still haven't got an answer to the question of what "the truth" is you want to spread. It was again a discussion you chose to dodge.

Kirk: "I must concede I enjoyed this thread so much more when I was being called a coward. As I said I like threads which reveal the character of the poster."

Maybe for once, Kirk, you can lay of your travesty of playing the funny and witty reverend and answer the questions about where you stand and show your true face.

How is it that I hurt you because I didn't support you in defending the sanctity of life? Why didn't Bbarr hurt you , or rwingett or countless others. You wanted my opinion and I gave it to you. I don't understand how that "hurts you." There are many things "laid out " in the Bible. Does not sanctity of life include care for the poor. I will bet there are more biblical references to this than there are to abortion in much the same way that there are more references to lying than there are about homosexuality. This , however, seems to be lost on the comic book theologicans of RHP.

The whole thing about "what is the truth" you have missed . It was intended as a light-hearted reference to the exact words of Pilate, yet you contrued this as a vicious plot of animosity. If that had been said to me, I might have said "How ironic that I used the same words as Pilate and here we are talking about religion." No big deal.

OK< I think I have answered your questions, however, there may be more and I will wait to hear from you if I am lacking in any way. I am one who is always lacking, yet hopefully suffcient in the eyes of God, to answer your question as to who the hell I am.
