They aren't religious. They're putting you on.
It's fake. It's the next con job. They are not religious, but they are addicted to power. So they use those who are religious to transform sheep to ravenous wolves.
You cannot actually love God and be a bigot. Ergo, they don't love God.
You cannot follow Jesus and follow an authoritarian. Ergo, they don't follow Jesus.
I think you can see my point.
That is why all this Charlie Kirk deification is bull.
They use it to sucker in the actually religious people. They are causing them to abandon God and follow hate. They have their reward in this world, but it will cost them their very souls.
@Suzianne saidYou must be the pride of your genetically challenged family although that’s not saying much.

@wildgrass saidI suppose it depends what kind of government one wishes to run. If you run a government for the benefit of the people who you govern, this may not be incompatible with religious belief, which tends in its' purest form to be benign, at least. Of course it's a big 'ask', since as was once famously said, you can't please all of the people all of the time, and religions are notoriously open to corruption. You only have to look at the Taliban in Afghanistan to see how badly wrong it can all go. Ideally, of course, in advanced, modern societies, governments should be non - denominational and entirely secular, politics and religion should have nothing to do with each other, and whilst it's okay for a leader to declare their own religious beliefs, that should not dictate how they run a country, nor should they claim to be running it in the name of their particular god or gods.

That's what I reckon, off the top of my head....
@wildgrass saidPeople who believe they have absolute truth invariably believe they have an obligation to impose it on others. This has more to do with the human than with any particular religion, as the same insight applies to Marxists, Mao-ists, Leninists, Stalinists, and fascists of all sorts.

But yes, there are many other examples. I agree that religion should stay out of the government business it is confusing why they think it is compatible but maybe it's just a power grab.

@moonbus saidAlmost all, or maybe all Christian nations have secular governments. It is only under Islam that Muslim governments insist on enforcing religious dogma, and all other religions are suppressed and oppressed. Muslims therefore are the only people who believe they have absolute truth. It is possible that Chrsitians believe that also, but they generally do not use political means to force the unbelieving to accept their doctrines.

"Turkey is a predominantly Muslim country with a constitutionally mandated secular state, although the government lists nearly 100% of the population as Muslim. The largest faith is Islam, with the vast majority adhering to Sunni Islam, though the liberal Alevi faith, a non-orthodox form of Islam, is also prominent. Other religions, including Christianity (Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant denominations) and Judaism, are practiced by minority populations, who may face social challenges despite constitutional guarantees of religious freedom."
Turkey is also in NATO.
