he..he, you are so out of touch and pretentious, dude.. is the US of A a sacred cow or a role model? and what's wrong with the comparison being made? 10 out of 10 of my friends would prefer raising their kids in Finland.

10 out of 10 of your friends are finnish.

The US may be somewhat silly.
However its businessmen, politicians, and elite class,
happen to be some of the wealthiest most powerful men on the planet.

There is a part of the US which is pretty powerful. There is also
a large slave base pumping the wheels for these very powerful men.
Raising your children here, will make them very powerful if you are
a wealthy or somewhat important individual. There's the catch.

The United States is scary.

well the point, dear clueless, is that finland is one of the heaviest taxed countries in the world (3rd I think). it makes all the sense to compare what you're entitled to as a down and out finn vs an american.

Kind regards to you and to your ten friends and their young.

You still fail to grasp the main structural premise of the unspoken

conversation, Worm. You accept confiscatory taxation as normal.

Edit: Gut issue isn't a "what you're entitled to" ranking but freedom.

Why cheap out with the obvious retort, Andy? You're better than that.

try telling that to a homeless person, denied of income, housing, healthcare and education. ask him how free he feels compared to the privileged. in the u.s. the 2% owning 98% of everything have all the 'freedom' they can wish for, but the rest not so much. if you're required to possess wealth and power to have freedom, it's not freedom but a privilege.

the degree of freedom a country has, is defined by the level of freedom the lowest class has.

and as some of us seem a bit unfamiliar with what the word freedom really means, here's a reminder from merriam-webster:

Main Entry: free·dom

Pronunciation: \ˈfrē-dəm\
Function: noun
Date: before 12th century

1 : the quality or state of being free as :

a : the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action
b : liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another : independence
c : the quality or state of being exempt or released usually from something onerous <freedom from care>
d : ease, facility <spoke the language with freedom>
e : the quality of being frank, open, or outspoken <answered with freedom>
f : improper familiarity
g : boldness of conception or execution
h : unrestricted use <gave him the freedom of their home>

Freedom is the voluntary selection of one's chains. Some Americans freely chose to be chained to their ignorance on all things existing beyond their comfort zone and borders... which is bliss. No matter how much exasperates the rest of us.

I secretly envy those kinds of dudes, because what has been seen cannot be unseen. There's no way back once you think for yourself.

---

That said, truth is that it's quite unfair to generalize, since there are many Americans who think for themselves and are aware (and appreciate) the world beyond their borders. Those who are intellectual redneck, unfortunately, give a bad name to the rest since they happen to own Washington.

For example, a radical minuteman xenophobe like Phlabibit gives a bad name to delightfully tolerant, multicultural and cosmopolitan chap such as Sam the Spam, well known for loving racial diversity and Muslims.

Here we go again, Bobby. I'm sorry my cheap retort failed to meet your lofty standards.

But thanks for proving my point.
