I think you may be confusing patriotism with nationalism.
Why wouldn't you be proud of where you came from? I suppose if you are not proud, you are embarassed, or indifferent? What would you say?
As to why I should not be proud, I am happy to discuss this later, but I was hoping to hear a defence of patriotism first.
