If anyone really does not know why then there is no way for me to explain it to them.

It is called "patriotism". A word that is forgotten by many of our young people here in the US as it must be around the world as well.
That's a cop out, if you cannot explain it, perhaps you don't understand it yourself. Patriotism is not an answer, please elaborate as to why anyone should have pride in the country they were born in.

you're probably confusing it with nationalism. an easy mistake to make though, as in practice there's hardly any difference.

These guys call themselves patriots as well...

http://www.stormfront.org/

They not only chose to be born in a superior country... they also chose to be born within the exclusive boundaries of the master race.

Stand proud, comrades!

Sir Walter Scott may give you a clue Starrman:

BREATHES there the man with soul so dead,
Who never to himself hath said,
'This is my own, my native land!'
Whose heart hath ne'er within him burn'd
As home his footsteps he hath turn'd
From wandering on a foreign strand?
If such there breathe, go, mark him well;
For him no Minstrel raptures swell;
High though his titles, proud his name,
Boundless his wealth as wish can claim;
Despite those titles, power, and pelf,
The wretch, concentred all in self,
Living, shall forfeit fair renown,
And, doubly dying, shall go down
To the vile dust from whence he sprung,
Unwept, unhonour'd, and unsung.

what's "negative" freedom (or "positive" for that matter) ? freedom to do things that have negative connotation? *confused*
Simply put, negative freedom is freedom from interference of other people, such as the goverment, for instance though taxation on income, health and safety regulations, food stamps.
Whilst positive freedom is the possibility of acting in such a way as to take control of one's life and realize one's ambitions as far as possible. In terms of 'government interference' this could be the use of tax revenue to pay for education, national healthcare, redistribution of income to get people out of poverty traps, etc.

Of course the use of certain examples can always make one look better than the other.

wasn't that the guy who thought his own country wasn't fit to govern themselves, but that the english should rule them?

😴 Have a go at explaining it, instead of quoting nationalist rhetoric poetry.

No point in explaining it you either feel it or you don't. You obviously don't.

Whether or not I feel it is immaterial in the question of 'why' I should feel it. You are the second person who is incapable of providing an explanation so I am inclined to assume there is no reason and it is mere indoctrination from birth.

By golly Starrman you have convinced me. I can see no reason at all why you should be proud of your country and culture, or their accomplishments. Just nothing there to be proud of.

You win.

Patriotism is stupid.
