I think you have to have a gun rack to be considered a hillbilly. So that counts me out.

I know assult rifles are banned. Maybe, if you can wait for several years, you can get a handgun permit. Much like NY city. No Way! unless you're a movie star, gov't official, or one of their body guards.

IF you can get a permit?

If a frog had wings it wouldn't bump it's ass every time it jumped!

There are three classes of firearms and firearm licenses: Nonrestricted, restricted and prohibited. Contrary to how it sounds, prohibited firearms are not prohibited in Canada, they simply require a prohibited license to obtain. These licenses are available at the discretion of the Chief Firearms Officer of a province or the Federal Government of Canada.

Nonrestricted licenses allow a person to own and use most semi-automatic and manual action rifles and shotguns, but no handguns.
Restricted licenses allow a person to use most semi-automatic handguns and some restricted semi-automatic rifles and shotguns.
Prohibited licenses allow a person to use firearms classified as prohibited, including fully automatic firearms.

I understand!, but ," at the discretion of the chief firearms officer" How long does that take? What about the guy that said he was going to kill you tonight? Will the cops be there to help you? This has happened to me. I called the police. They said to call them when he showed up. They couldn't, by law, do anything. I told the officer to bring a spatula when i call to scrape the guys brains off my ceiling if, and only if,he tried to enter my home. The officer said OK. Good thing i had a gun. In New York State you can apply for a handgun permit, but if you say it's for self defense, you will be denied. Plus it takes up to a year. You may have a hunting type handgun. Maybe a semi auto if you belong to a gun club. Better not end up using it for self defense! Auitomatic felony and jail time.

edit: I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just curious.
yes, all americans have barricades and fences with barbed wire on top surrounding their house and shoot anyone who comes within 50 yards. we just sit around with our rifles, grenades, and 357s hoping someone gives us just cause to shoot them.

The 2nd amendment to the US constitution has nothing to do with Duck Hunting. It was to protect the individual states from an out of control Federal Gov't. However, today, an individual cannot legally possess grenades. It's considered a TypeII weapon( explosive device) and can only be owned by the US military, National Guard or active reserve plus any terrorist who can easily cross our borders from Canada and Mexico. We have the militia act of 1795 and 1961 which requires citizens of a certain age to be armed with weapons of military grade and be ready to report for duty. We have the INALIENABLE right ( given by God ) to KEEP and bare arms. The gov't did not give us this right. They cannot take it away. But American will abandon it because we have turned into a bunch of wussies. But for now, we are locked and loaded ( yeah, booze and bullets go good together) and ready to defend.

The inalienable right is "SELF DEFENSE" God had not invented the gun yet. It's like freedom of speech, freedom of the press, religion. If you like, and are stronger than me, by all means use your hands. But I'll be capping your ass with a gun. It's just this silly survival thing i have. The freedom firgters in Iraq are doing very well with the great equalizer. No?

Such a great quote and the TRUE reason for the 2nd amendment.

"The 2nd amendment is not about Duck Hunting... its about our rights to protect ourselves against all of you guys up there!" --points at congressmen

You can have all the guns you want, but, no bullets. Let the bludgeoning commence.

Would you oppose extensive background checks, fingerprinting, semi-annual registration and the occasional anal probe maintain your 'right' to bare arms?

Would you oppose the public testicle flogging and those that violate existing gun laws?

Would you oppose the removal of the hands of those involved in violent gun crime felonies?

Would you oppose easily complied to, but stringent requirements regarding the safe storage and transportation of firearms?

None of these would violate your 'right' to bare arms and would help to minimize the negative impact of 'gun culture' in America.
