Yesterday I waited for some feedback from Russ, and talked with a couple good RHP friends.
My reasoning for Stocken was I felt he designed his "I love RN" Thread to cause trouble with users who do not get along with RN, I still feel that is the case, but as a friend says it is very hard to prove, and may actually not be true at all.
Some of the other users I banned for another reason, and I am not going to get into that.
Every time something comes up about 'the clean the forum bunch' normal posters become hurtful and say things they normaly would not say. I don't think the forums have gotten any better, as Stocken says... I still think he said these things to get a rise.
As for RookRAK, I'll be keeping him on 7 day ban, and I'm going to cut RN back to 3 days. What RN said was no where near as over the top as RookRAK.
In the future, I would like to see the forums please stop fighting over this situation of cleaning up the forums. We have an alert system that works fine, it is our choice as users to alert post or not alert them. More often than not people don't alert. That is why the forums are the way they are, the majority of users don't mind the way the forums are.
Reading through yesterday there are also some users who think the forums are more strict than ever, the is not the case. A year or 2 ago things were removed all the time, now you can find very hurtful, over the top, racist, sexual etc. posts all over the place.
I guess that is the way it is, since most users here don't really care. What I don't like is that RHP is 13 plus, but I hear many users say "We are all adults here".
Last I checked that was not true, but if Russ doesn't care I better stop also.
So, in closing... I got my feedback from Russ on the topic, and he really didn't give me any new insights. I'm off to open the forums back up for the users I banned outside of the 2 who ended up having the major fight.

I still disagree with the banning system, and always will, unless someone can give me some sort of explanation what these bans are supposed to be good for. Deleting the thread and asking stocken not to repeat this would have been just as effective and would have caused a lot less trouble for everyone involved.

I really don't have any strong opinions on these individual cases, because I've been away, but I've always thought a combination of moderated and unmoderated fora would be the best solution to this kind of controversy: As long as an unmoderated forum is clearly marked as such, it isn't going to hurt subscription to the site.

Good that you explained Phlab.
Im not too sure who issued me with a forum ban a few weeks back and wasnt given any explanation, just the standard post by admin.
I think it would be best in future if the person who is banned recieves an explaination why. Our clan recieved a PM from Stocken stating that he was given a ban but was unsure what for. So as a paying subscriber the Moderator in question should give a reason why the ban was inforced to the person in question to save all this confusion.
